Chapter 69
Today, Huxley was absent from the company without requesting a leave of absence.
Quinnlyn told Mikayla that as soon as she and Maxius had left that day, Huxley had claimed to have urgent matters and had not attended the gathering. Huxley probably had left the company after her.
Originally, Quinnlyn hadn’t paid much attention to it. However, after two consecutive incidents and Mikayla’s request to be informed about the news that morning, Quinnlyn felt it might be related to Huxley. So she promptly reported it.
Mikayla had just left the board meeting. She let Maxius enter her office and asked Quinnlyn to prepare two cups of coffee.
Mikayla was sitting in a leather office chair, and Maxius was across from her. She ordered, “Maxius, put aside the tasks you have at hand,
“Do you want me to investigate this matter?” he asked.
Regarding work, Mikayla and Maxius were like–minded and could think along the same lines.
“Yes, I think there’s more to this than meets the eye, Mikayla said, frowning slightly. She tried not to overthink things, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was orchestrating the events behind the scenes, deliberately involving her
Naturally, Makayla hoped her suspicions were unfounded.
“Okay” Maxius responded.
“Also, pay attention to the incident where I accompanied you to look at the house last time and got exposed online. Mikayla added. She placed some of the completed documents on the bookshelf.
Maxius asked in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“I mean exactly what you’re thinking, Mikayla replied, turning her head, and their eyes met. Mikayla said inwardly, Huxley, I hope this has nothing to do with you.
Meanwhile, with his plaster cast on, Huxley looked somewhat dejected as he sipped a low–alcohol red wine at Lesoville Private Winery
The doctor had advised him to stick to light meals and braths that were good for his bones. It would take him two weeks to remove the plaster cast and a month to recover.
Early that morning, the news of his beating had spread through Xosa, and all the comments were on Mikayla’s side.
Huxley thought, How dare that bitch, Mikayla, just stand by and watch that man lay his hands on me? I was humiliated in front of my friends and the public. This isn’t over yet He downed the wine in his glass in one gulp.
At that moment, Jason, who had just taken a phone call, walked in. The corner of his mouth curled as he saw Huxley’s gloomy expression.
Jaxon walked over, picked up the wine glass, and had the waiter take the glass and wine away. “You’re still in a plaster cast. You should drink less.” Jaxon said, pointing to Huxley’s hand and sitting across from him.
“Jaxon, it’s all thanks to you this time.” Huxley said with a hint of arrogance. He only bowed to those who were more powerful than him
Jaxon knew that clearly and thought, “If Huxley were to gain control of Salvatore Group, he wouldn’t take me seriously! But then Jason replied, “It’s nothing. You are Winona’s brother. How can I just sit by and do nothing?”
Hurley scoffed, “At first, I didn’t understand why Winona chose you, especially since you and that bitch Mikayla were about to get married. I finally realize Winona’s judgment isn’t so bad after all”
However, Huxley didn’t notice the strange look in Jaxon’s eyes when he mentioned Mikayla as a bich
“Rest assured. I will handle this matter,” Jason said. His expression stiffened for a moment before returning to its usual softness.
“Thank you, Jaxon. Also, my parents would like you to bring Winona home when you have time,” Huxley said.
The family wanted to meet with Jaxon. Logan had long distanced himself from the business world, and Jaxon was their son–in–law. Whenever they turned to Jaxon for help, he readily offered his assistance.
I’ll
“Okay. I take Winona to visit her parents as soon as I’ve sorted out the current maiters. Please give them my regards when you return,” jaxon replied
“Okay,” Huxley responded

After seeing Huxley off. Jaxon picked up his phone with a scheming expression and said, “Time to set the bair. Contrary to his father’s instructions, Jaxon hoped for a conflict between the two parties, seeing an opportunity for personal gain.
Today was the day Brantley returned from his business trip. Juliet had reserved a table at Lover’s Restaurant and arranged a candlelight dinner tonight to compensate for her past regreis.
Brantley’s plane landed at seven o’clock that evening.
Normally, it would take no more than an hour to get from home to the airport, but Juliet was worried about possible traffic delays. She left at five in the afternoon and went to the airport to pick him up. Humming a song as she drove, Juliet mused. ‘I wonder if Brantley misses me. Well, I miss himn anyway.
In a cheerful mood, she reached the airport without any problems at 5:40 pm. Juliet parked her car and found a cafe to pass the time.
She ordered a late and casually chose a window seat Juliet sipped her coffee contentedly and scrolled through the entertainment news on her phone.
“Is the information accurate?” A cold and piercing voice rang in her ears
Juliet turned to find a man with whom she hadn’t spoken much. He was dressed in a sharp, well–tailored suit and gave off a cold vibe. His expression was a mix of ruthlessness and intimidation.
Two men in black stood expressionless behind him. Meanwhile, another man, dressed casually, leaned forward with a fawning expression as he said. “It’s got to be right. Elvis,”
After Elvis sat down, he subtly raised his fingers. The man in black behind Elvis took out a stack of money from a bag and handed it to the man who had just responded.
Juliet thought to herself, Elvis is the one mistaken for a male escort back then. Based on what they have said, are they involved in something related to gang activity?”
Elvis noticed someone had been staring at him for a long time. He caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, his expression unchanged. Elvis Jeft with the two men in black after sitting for a while.
