In the bedroom on the second floor, Gordon lay in bed, looking quite unwell.
Rick stood at the doorway, noting Sophie and Colby's return, and closed the partially opened door.
Rick said, "Mr. Gordon's condition has been all over the place and hasn't really improved. This time, the illness hit him hard, and he might be bed-bound for several days."
Next door, a team of medical specialists was in a meeting.
Sophie glanced at Timothy, who was cleaning on the second floor, then asked, "Can Colby and I go in to see Mr. Gordon?"
"The master needs rest right now, so only one of you can go in. Who will it be?"
Rick's gaze fell on Colby.
Colby got straight to the point, "Who does he want to see?"
"..." Rick cleared his throat and then looked at Sophie, saying, "Maybe Ms. Sophie should go in."
"..." Sophie was a bit taken aback. These people loved to beat around the bush; even their way of speaking was a test of patience.
"Alright, I'll go," she said.
Rick opened the door, and Sophie walked in.
Outside the room, Colby leaned against the wall and deliberately lit a cigarette.
Rick said, "Mr. Colby, smoking is prohibited on the Burke Estate."
"Will he die if I smoke?"

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
