Adler's comment was like a spark in a dry forest, setting Spencer's anger ablaze.
Spencer, clearly riled up, tried to get to his feet. "No way! This has nothing to do with Ms. Leticia! The Silent Shadows would never destroy my family!"
He was struggling to accept the harsh truth staring him in the face.
"Colby, you handle this," Sophie sighed, her voice hoarse from trying to get through to Spencer. She was worn out, her patience as thin as tissue paper.
Colby took a deep breath and said, "Over the years, plenty of businesses that refused to join The Silent Shadows have been wiped out. Why do you think none of the Stark family's connections are coming to your rescue? I remember, the Starks had a solid rep overseas, helped a lot of folks. Plus... your family just went bankrupt, and then Mr. Stark suddenly 'falls ill' and dies? Can't you put two and two together?"
Spencer's mind raced with memories, fragments of the past flashing by.
His dad's death, and Kena being there at the hospital.
The first time he met Kena, she was in a white dress, looking as pure and angelic as if she’d stepped right out of a dream.
She was the only one who offered him a lifeline when he was drowning.
How could he ever think she was the one who killed his father?
Spencer was at a loss for words, feeling like he had a boulder lodged in his throat.
If this was true, then for the past six months, he’d been working for the very person who might have killed his dad.
Even plotting murder to get revenge for him.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
