In the dead of night, haunted by dreams, Sophie always felt an intense panic gripping her heart. When her eyes fluttered open, her forehead was already covered in cold sweat.
"Still troubled by the whole Reece affair?"
Colby's voice came from beside her, bringing a wave of reassurance.
It was then that Sophie felt a sense of peace.
She instinctively snuggled into Colby's embrace. For the past two months, they had been facing their challenges alone.
It had been a long time since she had nestled so closely in Colby's arms.
"It's my fault," Sophie murmured. "If I hadn't trusted Reece so blindly, the Pollard family would never have been thrown into such chaos, and Caelum wouldn't be in the hospital."
"This isn't your fault."
Colby gently patted Sophie's back, comforting her. "Even without your trust, The Silent Shadows would have found a way to infiltrate the Pollard family. That was their goal all along."
"But I just can't understand why Reece would be a member of The Silent Shadows."
She had pondered this all night long.
From the first time she met Reece, the two of them had worked tirelessly for S Corporation for two years.
S Corporation's success today couldn't have been achieved without Reece.
Yet Reece was the one who betrayed her the deepest.
"Maybe he was never truly on your side from the start. The Silent Shadows have their people everywhere. But didn't you conduct a background check on him when you first teamed up?"

Sophie found herself at a loss for words.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
