In a villa on the outskirts of Devonport.
It was James' first visit to the place where Odie was being held captive.
Darkness enveloped the room, with only a bed visible.
All the windows were nailed shut tightly.
From the moment Odie decided to hand over the gemstone to The Silent Shadows, he had a hunch about his fate.
The Silent Shadows had a requirement for the inclusion of traitors: a so-called blessing ceremony.
But this ceremony involved injecting the betrayer with a newly developed drug, essentially using them as a free test subject for The Silent Shadows. Death was the best outcome; surviving often meant living as a broken man.
The process wasn’t painful, even blissful, which is why it was dubbed a blessing ceremony.
"When were you injected with this stuff?"
In response to James' question, Odie, leaning on the bed, said indifferently, "The moment I handed over the gemstone. But this is none of your business, just give me the drug!"
By nightfall, Odie was in a sorry state.
The substance indeed alleviated the pain for an hour after injection, but after that, he had to endure inhuman torture. Once the addiction kicked in, his bones felt as if they were being gnawed by thousands of ants.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free.
