He knew Nichole was putting on a show for Sophie and the staff on purpose earlier. He had already warned Nichole that there would be no further interactions between them, and his cooperation was merely to see Sophie's reaction.

James shook off Nichole's hand, his eyes filled with menace. "How dare you bring up that night? Nichole, if you don't want to be ousted from Palm’s Jewels, I suggest you stop testing my patience. Otherwise, I'll make sure Eastwood College expels you without a second thought!"

Nichole's expression turned even uglier, and she didn't dare to make another move. She knew James would follow through on his threats, perhaps even tenfold.

James turned and left, leaving Nichole deflated and alone. Colt glanced at her and said, "Ms. Nichole, Mr. Burke's decision not to expose your lies is already a form of mercy. Please recognize your place and stop dreaming about becoming Mrs. Burke."
