Sophie couldn't escape Colby's intense gaze, his eyes brimming with sincerity. "Sophie, my heart is yours alone—past, present, and future."
"Colby, I don't believe in love." Sophie's voice was indifferent. "Maybe in the past, I could have fallen for you, but now, I don't want to easily fall for anyone."
The lessons from her past life were painful enough. She admitted to herself that there had been a moment when her heart fluttered for Colby, but it wasn't enough to risk the rest of her life on.
Life was too precious. She had been given a second chance at life and was determined not to be drowned in love again.
"Alright, then I'll stay by your side until the moment you accept me."

Sophie was about to persuade him further when the driver got into the car, breaking the intimate atmosphere inside.
"Mr. Colby, Ms. Sophie, please go to the police station with us. It won't take long."
The police officer in the passenger seat was extremely polite and friendly.
Sophie suddenly remembered that the Costello family had a military background, but Lennon had retired, and many of his former comrades had also stepped back. So, Colby having influence with the police wasn't a big deal after all.
And there she was, worrying about Colby. How foolish she had been.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
