"I'm signing on behalf of James. Do you have any more questions?"
"Of course not," the nurse hurriedly replied. "Please come with me upstairs to sign."
"It's inconvenient to climb in my heels. Just bring the death certificate down here, and I'll sign it."
"Alright, then. I'll go up then. Ms. Nichole, please wait a moment."
The nurse left the morgue, leaving Nichole alone.
Nichole stepped forward and pulled back the white cloth, revealing Sophie's pale, bruised face. She looked nothing like the wealthy lady she once was.
Sophie couldn't help but smirk at the sight of her former self. In her past life, she had tormented herself for James, ending up in such a pitiful state.
Truly, it wasn't worth it.
"Sophie, don't blame me for being heartless. Only with you gone could I take Mrs. Burke's place."
Nichole removed a ring from the corpse's hand, examining it closely.
Sophie remembered that in her past life, she received this ring from Bea after announcing her pregnancy.
Bea had declared her the only daughter-in-law of the Burke family. Now, it all seemed like a joke.
"I didn't expect James to actually give you the family heirloom ring."
Nichole laughed as she slipped the ring onto her own finger. "But it doesn't matter. From today on, I am the owner of this ring."
Hearing this, Sophie was stunned.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
