Gordon's face was neutral, without a hint of joy. He asked calmly, "What’s Bea want you to do in Devonport?"
"She's hoping I'll take over Burke International for her grandson, to keep it out of outsiders' hands."
Elodie chuckled, her smile faintly echoing Sophie's. "Gordon, between Sophie and me, who do you stand with?"
Gordon's response was cool. "The fact that I invited you here should make that clear."
"You're so good to Sophie, it's almost... enough to make me a bit jealous."
Elodie's smile faded. "I need Burke International. I don't blame you for siding with Sophie, but I'm not backing down on this."
She placed a bottle of pills on the table in front of Gordon. "These should help with your condition. I'll take my leave now."
Elodie flashed a brief smile before turning to leave Gordon's study. Rick, watching her go, voiced his concern, "Sir, Ms. Elodie won't back down easily."
"If she did, she wouldn't be Elodie," Gordon replied with a touch of indifference. "But Sophie’s no pushover either. It’ll be interesting to see who finally gets their hands on Burke International."
"Sir, Mrs. Costello doesn’t stand much of a chance against Ms. Elodie..."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
