Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 996

Hearing this, Odie scoffed. “Looking for help? Who could you possibly find to help? In Devonport, I’m probably the only one brave enough to cross swords.”

“Who says? I have my husband.”

Seeing Sophie’s face glowing with pride, Odie sneered, “Your husband? Would you really let him take such a risk?”

“I’d rather not, so of course, it would be best if you could handle it, Mr. Odie.”

At this, Odie felt a pang of bitterness. “Sophie, when will you remember me for something good?”

“Mr. Odie, this is a golden opportunity! Think about it, I’ve found the person who’s been smearing your name…”

Odie gave Sophie a sidelong glance. She continued, “…well, a clue to them.”

Odie scoffed, “I thought you were more capable. All you found was a clue?”

“Well, some people can’t even find that much, can they?”

“You…”

“Alright, Mr. Odie, I’ve given you a lead. I’m not asking for much—just catch the person and interrogate them thoroughly. My Colby isn’t cut out for detailed work like this, so it has to be you.”

Sophie spoke kindly, and Odie, somewhat reluctantly, nodded. “But I have one condition.”

“Go ahead.”

“If I end up at the docks and it turns into another police fiasco like last time, then I’ll be saying goodbye to Devonport that very day.” Odie gave Sophie a sharp look. “As for the bets, I don’t care. Losing ten million to you is something I can afford.”

Seeing Odie pull this card, Sophie didn’t indulge him. She nodded and said, “Fine, if you get caught, then it’s goodbye to Devonport for you. It’s your embarrassment, not mine.”

With that, Sophie waved at Sandy, saying, “Ms. Sandy, let’s go.”

Sandy made a face at Odie; she had been eager to leave his company.

“Sophie! Wait up!”
