Chapter 612 Drake, I Missed You So Much
"It's beautiful! Thank you, Auntie. But Mommy said I couldn't take other people's stuff."
Cathy shoved the doll into Bonnie's hands, "Well, just take it. This is the gift I give you as your aunt."
"You can ask your mommy if you don't trust me!"
Bonnie looked at Sophia with hope in her eyes.
Bonnie was interested in LEGO, so Sophia and Drake never bought her a doll. But Sophia could tell that Bonnie, a girl, couldn't resist dolls. So Sophia smiled, "Take it if you like."
Bonnie nodded.
Cathy got up and was about to talk to Sophia. But then she saw someone familiar walk in. It had been years since Cathy and Drake met last time, but he still looked big and tall. She couldn't resist the thrill and threw herself at him when he saw her.
"Drake, I miss you so much."
Bonnie and Sophia turned to look at them at the same time, both with confusion, especially Sophia. William and his family had moved abroad when Sophia was twelve, and they didn't get in touch since then, but it was so unexpected that her cousin Cathy would know Drake.
Drake's first instinct was to push Cathy away. He took a look at Sophia and then asked, "You are..."
Cathy still looked thrilled, "Drake, how could you forget about me?! I'm Cathy, Cathy Lawson!"
"Cathy?" Drake tried to remember this name and soon got it, "You are Cathy?"
Cathy nodded in excitement, "That's right! Drake, you finally remembered!"
Drake eyed her up and down, "You've all grown up. I almost didn't recognize you!"
A cute smile had been on Cathy's face, and she even tilted her head.
"But Drake, I recognize you at once!"
Drake reached his hand out to touch her hair unconsciously, "I didn't expect we could meet again."
Bonnie then looked at Sophia because her daddy only did that to her mommy, as she could recall.
Sophia got an unpredictable look on her face.
Cathy soon blushed, "I don't know when I'm gonna meet you again if it weren't for my job transfer this time. Drake, I really miss you."
Then she took the initiative and hugged Drake.
He certainly noticed the look Sophia gave him. So he pushed Cathy away in a subtle manner before she threw herself at him. Then he grabbed her wrist and said, "Come with me; I'll introduce someone to you."
Sophia stared at Cathy's wrist, where Drake was grabbing. He then hurriedly took his hand back like he had done something wrong.
"Sophia, here, this is Cathy Lawson, a girl I met when I studied abroad."
Drake suddenly realized her last name and then looked at her, "You both have the same last name, Lawson. Do you know each other?"
But he didn't remember that Sophia had a sister. In his opinion, Sophia was the only daughter of the Lawson family, so she was highly valued.
Cathy got an innocent look on her face, "Drake, just as you figured, we are family."
Drake was confused. He looked at Sophia, then turned to look at Cathy and had no idea what this was about.
Cathy said first before Sophia could say something, "Our fathers are brothers. My father took us abroad with our grandma when I was ten. So you would meet me there."
Drake knew that Abbott had a brother who had been abroad with his family and the old Mrs. Lawson due to her poor health.
But he didn't expect that Cathy was Sophia's cousin. What a coincidence!
"Sophia, you are married to Drake. What a surprise! You know, I was upset for a long time when I got this news."
Cathy and Sophia hadn't met for years, but they knew each other pretty well. Sophia knew that Cathy was saying this to let her ask why she was upset.
But Sophia almost knew the answer, so she didn't ask Cathy.
"Dinner should be ready. Cathy, let's go."
The look in Cathy's eyes changed subtly. In an injured tone, she said, "Sophia, why don't you ask me why I got upset?"
Sophia said impassively, "We all have to grow up and start a family. Don't be sad. By the way, I guess you have a boyfriend now. When are you getting married?"
Cathy hid her anger again, "Sophia, I don't have a boyfriend yet. Actually, I'm here to let you help me with that."
"Really? Well, what's your type? I'll keep an eye out for you."
The smile on Cathy's face appeared again, "Of course, I'll be into a guy like Drake!
Drake frowned, "Cathy, cut it out. Sophia would get you wrong if you keep saying this."
"How would she? Sophia is the kindest in the world, right?" Cathy looked at Sophia with a smile.
Sophia also smiled, "Certainly. But there aren't many guys like him."
"Then you can just let me have him!" Cathy looked innocent with her big eyes blinking, making it harder to tell if she was joking.
Drake added again, "Cathy, I'm not very happy about your words."
"Drake, you see, I was just testing how much Sophia loves you. She is my cousin, that's for sure. But you and me, we once experienced so much together. I would certainly take your side!"
"Sophia loves me..."
Sophia interrupted Drake when Drake was in mid-sentence, "Drake is not a thing. Why should I just let you have him?!"
Cathy said after a short laugh, "Drake, see? She got angry. I know her the best. She would have that look on her face whenever she wanted something since she was just a little girl."
These words were nice, but somehow they sounded weird when Cathy said them.
Wanted something? Was Drake a thing?
But Drake didn't overthink it as he knew how Cathy was.
"Let's go see what Sophia prepared for you for dinner!" Drake gave Cathy a nudge.
"Okay!"
Cathy followed him into the kitchen in excitement. Cathy was a guest, but the way she behaved somehow looked like she and Drake was the real couple instead.
