Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 658

Chapter 658

Colton stood tall by the bed. Despite Benedict's silence, he could tell that his assumption was close to accurate judging from his grandfather's expression.

He took two steps forward and looked down at Ella's photo. He was still a child when Ella passed away, but he could remember that she was a kind woman. After her death, Benedict's health declined, and he was even diagnosed with brain cancer.

Benedict closed his eyes, and the tears at the corners of his eyes slowly flowed down his cheeks. Then, after a long moment of silence, he finally said, "Yes, you're right."

His voice was deep and solemn when he said this with an apparent hint of resignation.

"I've checked the letter. A kid on the street delivered it and said someone paid him to send it to our house. I still don't know who the person who penned that letter was," Colton explained carefully.

Since Colton had figured out the whole thing, Benedict decided to come clean. He stood up, hunched slightly, ambled to the drawer, unlocked it with a key, and took out the photo inside.

As Colton took a look at the picture, astonishment filled his eyes. There was a man and a woman in the photo. He had seen the man before. He was William, but the woman beside him was not Lydia. She must be Nicole's mother.

"Is this woman Madeline?"

Benedict nodded firmly, his eyes filled with bitterness. "Back then! Not long after Ella died, I took this woman in and treated her as my own. She is a devil! I called the woman who killed your grandma my daughter!"

He wanted to slap himself. How could he be so foolish?!

Naturally, Colton noticed Benedict's despair, so he quickly comforted him, "Grandpa, there may be some misunderstanding. You spent so much time with Madeline and even praised her when you returned. Such a person wouldn't be capable of a hit and run."

Benedict shook his head in anguish. But, alas, the photo was solid evidence, so he had no choice but to believe it!

"I also hoped that she wasn't the culprit, but how else can you explain this photo?!" he demanded mournfully.

There was nothing else Colton could do but comfort him.

After Benedict ran out of tears, he finally succumbed to sleep.

Benjamin was standing by the door when Colton left the room, and he quietly beckoned for Colton.

They remained silent as they walked to the study. Benjamin had overheard most of the conversation and understood the whole story.

"Colton, if Nicole's mother is really the murderer of your grandmother, I want you to break ties with Nicole," Benjamin said solemnly. The victim was his own mother! So, of course, he cared!

Colton was unsurprised to hear this. He would have made the same decision if it had been his mother who had died. "What about Hayden? Do you want to kick him out too?"

Benjamin closed his eyes briefly and inhaled deeply before saying, "He's your son. If he wants to stay, he can stay as part of the family. If he doesn't want to, he can leave with Nicole."

In short, neither Benedict nor Benjamin would allow his relationship with Nicole to continue if Madeline was truly Ella's murderer.

"I'll investigate this matter thoroughly."

What happened this time was definitely not a coincidence. Someone sent this photo on purpose so that Benjamin and Benedict would force them to break up. Who exactly would gain the most if they planned this?

Benjamin knew that Colton loved Nicole, so he didn't stop him. He merely waved him off. "No matter who did this, you must investigate this. Nevertheless, you now have a clue, so you should do your best to learn the truth."
