Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 659

Chapter 659

After Colton learned the whole story, he left the Gardner Residence feeling somewhat out of sorts. He didn't even have time to truly process everything when he noticed that Nicole had already woken up when he returned home.

Due to his preoccupied thoughts, she naturally caught sight of his serious expression and quickly figured out that something terrible had happened. She clenched her hands tightly and asked nervously, "What's going on? Why is Grandpa so upset?"

He pursed his lips and scrutinized her for a bit. Then, after a while, he sighed and replied, "You'd better brace yourself."

Nicole's heart skipped a beat. Are things that serious?

Her lips trembled a little, and her face became slightly pale, but she nodded firmly and gave him the go-ahead. "Alright, tell me. I'm not that weak. I can handle it."

He looked at her with concern. Her face was pale, probably because she had just recovered from the ordeal with Pierre. As he regarded her delicate face, he bit his lips and felt rather distressed with what he was about to say. "My grandmother died because your mother drove a car with your father and hit her. It was a hit-and-run. After she killed my grandma, she fled."

Colton enunciated his explanation slowly and cautiously. Still, his words echoed in her ears as white noise gradually filled her mind.

"Impossible!" she exclaimed. This was the first word that appeared in her mind.

When Colton saw the unabashed shock on Nicole's face, he could understand her feelings. Nonetheless, he continued, "These photos are screenshots from the surveillance video of that year. I'm not lying."

Nicole's whole body tensed at his remarks. No wonder Benedict was so devastated. No one can remain calm after knowing such a thing.

Her lips trembled, and she balled her fists tightly. She must verify this immediately. Her mother would never do such a thing. Never!

"No. I have to ask my dad about this. She'd never do such a thing. No, it's not her," she rambled in agitation.

Although Madeline had been dead for so many years, she could recall her gentle demeanor and heart-warming words. Madeline was such a hard-working and resilient person. How could she ever do such a thing?!

There was definitely a misunderstanding!

When Colton sensed her agitation, he quickly held her hand to offer her some comfort and reassurance. "Calm down, Nicky."

Nicole squeezed his hand and gradually reigned in her emotions. Indeed, she lost control of her feelings when she heard what Colton had said. However, it was reasonable for her to be in such turmoil because such a thing was exposed after Madeline's death.

She quickly realized that she had lost her composure, so she apologized sheepishly, "I'm sorry. I was too worked up."

He ruffled her hair reassuringly. It was indeed difficult for her to suddenly accept that her mother was a murderer. "Let's go and ask your dad about this."

Nicole nodded, spruced up, and immediately departed for William's house.

The Andersons were also a mess these days. Bryan took Queenie away. Lydia wanted to seek Colton's help to bring her back but feared that he would learn that Queenie and Bryan were together again…

Therefore, she had no choice but to give up on this idea and anxiously wait for Queenie's return.

Nowadays, the pathetic William would only gamble and do nothing else. Because of him, they were heavily in debt, and the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Yet, he did nothing to fix the problem, as if he wasn't aware of the miserable state he was in now.

His demeanor drove Lydia up the wall. If she had known that he would end up being such a loser, she would not have gone to such lengths to seduce him!

"By the way, I haven't seen Queenie recently. She rarely visits us after marrying Colton."

She ignored him, yet he continued, "Do you have money? Give me some. I want to go out."

At this point, whatever remnants of control over her temper were gone as she finally turned, glared at her useless husband, and snapped, "Money, money, money! All you think about is money!"
