Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 660

Chapter 660

Lydia's condescension rubbed William the wrong way, and he immediately made his displeasure known as he raised his hand and slapped her. "Would you have married me if it hadn't been for my money?! How dare you look down at me now!"

His violent attitude dazed her. She cupped her aching cheek, her eyes filled with disbelief as she exclaimed, "William, look at yourself now! You're such a pathetic man! What else can you do except gamble all day long?!"

His behavior banished all her doubts, and she decided to cut ties with him. Whether Queenie ended up with Colton or Bryan, she would definitely live a better life. Therefore, there was no need for her to pander to William any longer!

Meanwhile, William was upset due to Lydia's insults of his character, so he raised his voice and reprimanded, "It's all thanks to me that you can become Mrs. Anderson for so many years. What else do you want?! I earn and pay for everything in this house!"

At this moment, the doorbell suddenly rang, and the two stopped arguing. Nevertheless, she was in a terrible mood, so she turned her head and ignored the doorbell.

However, William quickly regained his composure and warned, "You'd better behave yourself in front of others." With that, he suppressed the anger on his face and strode toward the door.

As soon as he opened the door and saw Nicole, he was startled, not expecting to see her coming at all. He squinted slightly, looked next to her to check whether she was alone, and was even more surprised to see Colton!

Colton was here with Nicole!

"Mr. Gardner! What brings you here?" William grinned and asked slyly, utterly dismissing Nicole.

"I'm here to ask you something. Is that alright with you?" Colton asked, his voice somewhat aloof and firm.

Nonetheless, his question sent a chill down William's spine. So, he chuckled and hastily agreed, "Of course! Please come in."

Colton strode into the Andersons' residence with Nicole. This was his first time here.

When William went to open the door, Lydia had already heard who was at the door and quickly calmed herself when she knew that Colton had paid them a visit.

Colton saw Lydia as soon as he walked in. Although she was all smiles, he could see her red-rimmed eyes. Regardless, he was not here for anyone in this residence, so he didn't bring attention to it.

Despite his dispassionate demeanor, Lydia immediately hurried forward with a genial smile and greeted him, "Hello, Mr. Gardner. What brings you here? What's the occasion?"

Colton dismissed her as he turned and looked at Nicole. After she met his gaze, she glanced at William and said, "I've come to ask you something."

William was taken aback by the attention and felt inexplicably uneasy when he observed the grave expressions on their faces. Finally, he cleared his throat and forced out, "Go ahead. We're family. There's no need to be so formal."

With that, he turned to Lydia and ordered, "Can't you see Mr. Gardner is here? Prepare some coffee."

She did not embarrass herself before Colton, so she nodded and did as she was told.

William grinned from ear to ear and clasped his hands humbly. "Please have a seat, Mr. Gardner. What are your inquiries?"

Colton remained expressionless. He looked at Nicole and said flatly, "I'll let Nicky do the talking."

William's heart skipped a beat when he heard Colton addressing Nicole in such an intimate way. When did they become so affectionate?! But before he could parse things out, Nicole interrupted his thoughts and went straight to the point, "How did Old Mrs. Gardner die?"

William inhaled sharply as his eyes turned dodgy. His heart thumped wildly within the confines of his chest, yet he could feel every single drop of blood draining from his face.

Didn't I settle everything back then?! So, how did they find out about this?!

Alas, time wasn't on his side, so he had no choice but to squash whatever panic he felt and feign ignorance quickly. "What are you talking about? I don't understand."
