Seeing Nicole's sudden change of expression as if she was cautious of him, Gabriel could almost read her mind. Smiling, he reassured her, "I didn't mean to blame you. Evelyn deserves the consequences of her own actions. I actually wanted to thank you for being lenient with her."

Nicole never expected him to be such a magnanimous person. She thought Gabriel would be someone who would side with his family no matter what. Contrary to her expectations, he was a sensible person.

When Nicole didn't speak, Gabriel continued with a smile, "I'm friends with Colton, and he has mentioned you a few times. Now, I'm finally meeting you in person."

Nicole pursed her lips. Instead of talking about the past with Gabriel, she shifted the topic back to Colton. "Mr. Wrenn, I want to visit Colton. If you don't mind, could you tell me which hospital he is in?"

Instead of answering her question, he suggested, "Miss Anderson, you've just taken the antidote. Your body isn't in its best condition yet. It's best to rest now before going."

Feeling distressed about Colton's safety, she knitted her brows together and insisted, "I'm completely fine."

Seeing Nicole's persistence, Gabriel smiled helplessly. He then took out his phone and made a call to Colton. Colton answered the call quickly, asking in a hoarse voice, "Gabriel? Is there something wrong?" Colton sounded a little exhausted. Sasha had been in the emergency room for almost two hours, and her condition was still uncertain.

Although he didn't really like her, he couldn't just abandon her after seeing how she sacrificed her life to save him.

"Miss Anderson is next to me now, and she wants to talk to you. Are you free to take the call?" inquired Gabriel.

Colton was silent for a while before responding, "Yeah. Pass the phone to Nicole."

Nicole quickly took the phone. Gabriel just said that the target of the sniper was Colton, so she was worried sick that Colton would be injured. "Are you okay?"

Hearing Nicole's flustered voice, Colton felt his mood lighten. The corners of his lips curled upward as he comforted her, "Don't worry. I'm not injured, but the security guard who took the bullet for me is hurt. So, I'm still in the hospital."

For some reason, Colton didn't want to mention Sasha's name to Nicole.

After making sure that he was fine, Nicole heaved a breath of relief. Thankfully, nothing happened to him. Lowering her eyes, she asked, "Okay. Thankfully you're alright. Is it Undercity again this time?"

When Colton heard Nicole's question, a murderous gleam flickered in his eyes, and his lips pursed into a thin line. Initially, he didn't plan to confront Undercity head-on, but now that they were being presumptuous, he had no choice but to make a move.

"It's probably them. I've already sent someone to investigate the situation, so just be careful these days. I will send someone to protect you too. I may have to stay at the hospital for a while."

Nicole nodded. Since the security guard took the bullet for him, it made sense that Colton wanted to take care of him.

"Sure. You should be careful too."

Remembering that it was Gabriel who found her, he uttered, "Gabriel can be trusted. He'll bring you to a safe place. I will come over once I've settled the matters here."

"Okay," Nicole answered before hanging up the phone.

After Colton saw that the phone was hung up, he shoved the phone into his pocket. He thereafter looked up at the operation lights that were still on. Although he looked calm, his heart was already boiling with anger.

Just as he was pondering, another call came in.

"Sir, the boss of Undercity has already agreed to meet tomorrow afternoon. We have also sent men to surround the location so that there will be no accidents."

Colton's eyes were dark like pools of stagnant water. Without any trace of emotion, Colton ordered with a cold, deep voice, "Got it. Play by ear tomorrow!"
