Colton didn't bother to answer Olivia. He only took Nicole's hand and walked away from Olivia in favor to look for Benedict instead.
Noticing his attempt to leave, Olivia took a step forward to stop them in their tracks. Nicole was increasingly getting on her nerves.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Nicole is the same as her mother.
She might even be the one who set Colton up and tricked him into sleeping with her five years ago. After all, if she wants to cut ties with Colton, she wouldn't give birth to the b*stard in the first place.
She no doubt is using the b*stard as a stepping stone to joining the Gardner Family.
Once the ideas formed in her mind, Olivia couldn't help but throw harsher words at the pair.
"Colton Gardner, get a hold of yourself and look at the woman before you! Her problematic mother aside, don't you think she approached you on purpose? If not, she should've aborted the b*stard at the beginning instead of giving birth to him! From the very beginning, she knew that the child was yours. That's why she's using the b*stard as the way to approach you!"
Nicole paused for a moment before she waved away Colton's grasp.
No matter whether Madeline was responsible for Ella's tragedy or not, she must be aware of the situation since she was sitting in the driver's seat.
However, Nicole would never allow anyone to pick on her son regardless of the situation.
The repeating mention of "b*stard" hurt like a bundle of needles that punctured her heart, and they hurt her more than anything else.
"I've never thought of getting on the good side of the Gardners! I couldn't care less about it!" Standing upright, Nicole maintained a neutral expression as she stared right back at Olivia.
"I'm here because I care about Grandpa. I want to find out the truth, and he has the right to learn it too, no matter who the culprit is."
She expressed her stance in a calm manner, her tone neutral throughout.
"Nonsense! If you're trying to be considerate of my father, you should get out of the house and kneel in front of the entrance before asking for forgiveness. After that, I don't want to ever see you again on our property!" Olivia growled at the other woman while her finger pointed at the door, gesturing for Nicole to leave.
Her tolerance of Nicole had reached its peak.
Pursing her lips, Nicole decided to stay quiet.
A sane person would instantly consider Madeline as the culprit who hit someone and ran away upon seeing the picture. However, Nicole had a feeling that there was something fishy about the whole situation, and affirmed that she must have missed out on an important clue.
Colton cast a glance at her, and she answered with a nod when she got the hint. Ignoring Olivia's glare, Nicole headed straight for the inner area of the residence.
Olivia had only gone madder when she noticed that Nicole was walking away. Thus, she rushed ahead to prevent the other woman from getting away.
However, the tall stature of Colton was standing before her and had stopped her in her tracks.
"Aunt, you must want to discover the truth. I feel like there's something that doesn't add up in the case, which is why we need an investigation before jumping to conclusions."
Olivia was unable to form a sentence due to her fury at Colton siding with Nicole. Catching her breath for a few moments, her words got stuck in her throat before she eventually managed to spit them out. "She'll be the end of you one day!"
Olivia studied the man before her. He no doubt is a genius in the business field, so why can't he think straight when it comes to a woman?
Meanwhile, Colton was aware that Olivia always had a prejudice against Nicole. After Ella's accident, she would only become less friendly to Nicole. Thus, he didn't comment on that.
Presently, Nicole succeeded to avoid another confrontation with Olivia, and she headed all the way to Benedict's room.
Pushing the door open, she noticed that Anna and Benjamin were inside the room too. The pair were sitting around Benedict, and it seemed like the three were in a discussion.
Nicole tightened her fist around the door handle as the embarrassment that flooded her mind made it difficult for her to be the first to speak.
The people in the room turned to the noise and immediately noticed her presence. She pursed her lips as she struggled to convey the words in her mind but in the end, she did not know what to say.
Anna perceived that Nicole wasn't expecting their presence. Tugging at Benjamin's sleeve, she rose to her feet and excused them both. "Let's go. We should give them some privacy."
Although Benjamin seemed like he wanted to protest, she dragged him along against his will and left the room.

What a waste of reading! This could have been an excellent novel if it hadn't skipped chapters after 531 and then everything is garbled. Get your act together if you still want a reading audience!!!...
