Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 754

Chapter 754

Nicole quickly gave Zachary a call to inform him about Betty's condition, thinking they should put their plan on hold since Betty was unfit to travel abroad at the moment. A few seconds later, Zachary answered the call and asked, "Hello, Nicole. What's the matter?"

Nicole gulped and proceeded to tell him everything that happened earlier. "Something came up with Ms. Betty. She is now undergoing gastric lavage, so I think we can't go anywhere for now."

Zachary paused in shock, taken aback by something so sudden and unexpected. Then, he responded calmly, "Alright, I heard you. Are you still in the hospital right now?"

"Yeah, I'm still here because I'm worried someone might harm her." Nicole nodded.

Zachary gently comforted Nicole, for he could tell the sorrow that was tormenting her from the woman's tone. "She'll be fine, so don't worry. Everything is going to be alright. I'll be on my way." In response, Nicole didn't turn him down. Instead, she nodded and gave an affirmative hum.

Not long after, Betty was done with her gastric lavage treatment just when Zachary arrived at the hospital. When he met up with Nicole, he immediately showed concern. "Have you found out who did it?"

Nicole nodded. "It was one of the nurses, but I have no idea why she would do such a thing."

Noticing the exhausted look on Nicole's face, Zachary patted her shoulder and promised to take care of the matter. "Leave this matter to me. I'll find out who's behind this while you look after Ms. Betty."

Nicole puckered her lips and was about to say something, but she decided to swallow her words in the end. Then, she said apologetically, "I'm sorry. I didn't see this coming."

Instead of blaming Nicole, Zachary was considerate enough to assure her everything was fine. "I know. We can talk about that after you take care of everything here."

Meanwhile, Nicole was overwhelmed by guilt in the face of Zachary's understanding response, but in the end, she didn't say anything, only pursing her lips. On the other hand, Betty looked as if she had aged a few years older after her treatment.

While she was lying in bed, her face seemed as pale as a white sheet. At the same time, the fact that her eyes were closed made her look like a deceased patient. Seeing that, Nicole couldn't stop beating herself up for hiring an unreliable nurse. It's all my fault. If I hadn't hired someone so unreliable, Ms. Betty wouldn't have suffered.

Meanwhile, with William convicted of his crime and put away in prison, the Anderson Family was like a kingdom without a king. At the same time, Lydia panicked when she learned that Nicole was going to take Betty abroad for treatment.

After all, Betty was aware that she was responsible for Madeline's murder, or she wouldn't have increased the dosage to a point meant to be lethal. Knowing Nicole, Lydia was sure that the former would retaliate when she found out she murdered Madeline.

Therefore, she decided to kill Betty, only to realize she survived. Why won't this lady die? She is as stubborn as a mule! Lydia was furious, finding it hard to believe that Betty survived even though she spent a fortune to put a hit on her.

"Mom, what are we going to do now? That man wants a million from me, or he won't go through the divorce!" Queenie asked nervously, anxious about the money she had to give because William took everything away from the Anderson Family and left nothing behind. Although she initially thought Lydia still had some money with her, her mother's answer immediately surprised her. In fact, Lydia was so broke that she couldn't even spare a hundred thousand.

"We're broke now, Queenie. Why don't you ask Mr. Kohlberg for some money?" Lydia suggested.

When Queenie heard her mother's request, her face instantly went pale. After all, she was one of the few people who knew Bryan the best and the consequences of associating with him, but their desperate situation didn't seem to leave them much of a choice. While Queenie reckoned that she could still survive on her own without Colton, she was sure her future would be doomed if she ever consorted with Bryan.

In the meantime, Lydia was as worried as her daughter about their situation. Although William had been taken away by the people from the Gardner Family, the debts that he owed didn't go away with him. Therefore, without the Gardner Family's support, Lydia was afraid that the creditors would come after them.

Besides, she was further exhausted by the fact that she was also busy covering the tracks of her past evil deeds as if their desperate financial situation wasn't bad enough.
