Right Person, Wrong Time novel Chapter 762

Chapter 762

Nicole trembled a little, her eyes filled with disbelief. After a long thought, she bit her lip and snapped, "I didn't know that you were such a vile person, Colton!"

When Colton heard her comment, not only was he not enraged, he actually chuckled with a mere smile in his eyes. As his tall figure approached her, he lowered his head and whispered in her ears, "I'm a person who will do anything to get what I want, Nicole. You should have known it a long time ago."

Nicole gritted her teeth and thought she needed to re-evaluate this man in front of her.

It was apparent that his threat was very useful, for she couldn't abandon Betty and give up on Hayden now. With a determined look, she asked through gritted teeth, "What is it that you want, President Gardner?"

Hearing that, he put on a smile and said calmly, "I'll deal with the matter between your father and my grandmother. Hayden not only needs his mother in his life but his father as well."

At this moment, she looked at him and felt that her throat was incredibly dry. It seemed as though something was blocking it, for she found it difficult to say anything. After pondering for a bit, she closed her eyes and replied, "Fine, I won't get married, but you can't lay your hands on Betty, and you're not allowed to take Hayden away from me."

She was feeling weak from head to toe and knew very well that she couldn't go against him.

For some time, Colton didn't say anything and simply stared at Nicole with his dark eyes.

On this pitch-black night, the two of them stared at each other in silence. After a long time, Colton only said, "We're in a society ruled by law now, Nicole. How would I dare do such a thing? I'm just worried about Hayden."

As he spoke sluggishly, he reached out his hand to help tidy up the baby hairs on her forehead. His gentle action seemed as though he was treating a precious treasure.

Nicole looked at the person in front of her; only when she went up against him did she realize how horrible he was.

After she pressed her lips together, she took a step back to avoid his touch. When she looked up, there was only coldness in her eyes. "I think it's better for us not to meet each other, President Gardner. Grandpa underwent surgery not long ago. With his body in that state, he can't get angry. If he sees us together, I'm afraid that he'll be enraged. So, we shouldn't see each other for his health."

Colton didn't reply to her words but changed the topic right away. "I'm somewhat familiar with Betty's condition. I've already relocated a professional medical team from overseas, and there will be professional medical staff coming over. They'll be here by tomorrow morning. She'll be fine."

Hearing that, she looked down and said in a low voice, "Thank you."

After looking at her, he didn't say much but just turned around to leave immediately.

When Nicole saw his lonely figure from the back as he left, she didn't know why, but her heart was wrenched. It was a pain that she hadn't felt before.

The night was lit up a little by the streetlights. Within seconds, Colton had already disappeared into the dark.

At this moment, she heaved a sigh of relief. After she lost sight of his figure, only then did she turn around and return to the ward.

Betty's condition was grim as she lay inside the ward. Since she had been poisoned, she required an oxygen mask. The doctor in the hospital had also informed Nicole that Betty didn't have much time left.

When she heard that, her first thought was to hire a professional medical team from abroad but contacting them would take some time. In fact, she wanted to try contacting them the next morning, but she didn't know that Colton had already thought of it and even prepared everything.

She didn't know how she should treat Colton. He appeared to be concerned with all of her matters...
