Hugh held his wine glass as he grinned. "It's not enough that we laugh at those two. We should get the public to do the same."
Peter's eyes glowed upon hearing that. "Dad, what are you planning?"
Hugh sneered, "Nathan doesn't have any celebrity guests or reporters, right? We'll send the tabloids over to ask Nathan and Penny about their embarrassing past. After that, we will publish all that shameful information and get everyone to mock them."
Peter said gleefully, "I heard that Nathan was chased out of his family a few years back and was utterly disheveled. Also, Nathan got drunk and slept with Penny, which got her pregnant before they got married. Who would've thought that they'd end up together in the end? If the tabloid share all those embarrassing past, the news would most definitely spread all over the state. It should be enough to put Nathan and Penny in an awkward position."
Hugh scoffed, "That is exactly what I want. I want to humiliate them, and I want them to know how powerful our family is. If Nathan does not comply, I will destroy him bit by bit until there is nothing left!"
After saying that, Hugh instructed Peter, "Send the tabloids over to their company's event immediately. I want them to humiliate Nathan and Penny."
"Understood," replied Peter.
At the hotel where Cross Group's event would take place, the employees were busy preparing for the event.
Time trickled by. Hours had passed, and it was soon eleven-thirty.
However, the vast hall remained empty. Cross Group's top executives and the hotel's employees were the only ones there. No celebrity guests or reporters showed up, and that made the place look eerie.
Penny was in her formal outfit as she paced back and forth nervously.
She murmured anxiously, "Why isn't he here yet? The event will take place in half an hour, and Nathan promised that the celebrities and the reporters would be here. Why isn't anyone here yet?"
Grace, Peggy, Jenny, and the others had their heads down as they stood behind Penny. They looked disappointed.
Everyone thought that the event would be a total failure with no one showing up.
