The only ones left were the military personnel.
Nathan instructed Sage to arrest Layden s followers and old subordinates. Then, he gave the order to the army to give Layden a military funeral and to inform the public that Layden had passed away from a heart attack while working as the Assistant Chief Military Governor due to stress and old age.
“Understood, sir!”
Layden was officially promoted to the position of Assistant Chief Military Governor before the news of his death was released to the public.
When the others heard about it, they were surprised.
However, no one suspected the authenticity of the news. After all, the president, the Chief Military Governor, the members of the Great Cabinet, the ministers, and an army commander were there when that happened to Cayden. Since the government was the one who informed them about the news, they believed in it.
The next day, Cayden's funeral was held.
Nathan sat in the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor's office and stared at the globe on the table in a daze.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Nathan muttered, “Come in.”
Sage entered and politely greeted, “Sir.”
“Is everything settled?”
Sage replied, “Everything's been dealt with according to your instructions. Nothing's unusual about the public's reaction. They all just feel pity that
Cayden suddenly died.”
Nathan hummed. “We’ve hidden the truth to avoid the negative implications of this case, and by doing that, we've managed to keep Layden’s reputation as well.”
“I'd say he's gotten off easy. Sir, you keep trying to give him an honorable death, but he still used Burblo before he died to try to end your life as well. What a shameless man.”
