Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2453

In the dead of night, a figure could be seen kneeling before the gravestone of Cayden. That figure was none other than Jett, Layden's favorite mentee who he saw as his own son.

After Layden's death, the Quillen family members, as well as Layden's old subordinates were all investigated. Many were secretly arrested.

Lately, Jett had been busy searching for medical research institutes on behalf of Cayden in hopes of finding an antidote for his mentor so that Cayden could escape from the Ariaricans' control.

That was why Jett had not been by Layden s side recently. Furthermore, as Layden rarely assigned him to work on illegal matters, he managed to fly under the radar of the investigation team.

At the moment, he was kneeling before Layden s grave as he suppressed the anger and sadness blooming in his chest. He grounded out, “Mr. Quillen, I know your death isn't as simple as just a heart attack. Someone must have reported you and set you up for death. Moreover, I can guess the person who did that must be Nathan Cross. He must have reported you to the Chief Military Governor, and that's why this happened. I'm but a weak man. I don't have the courage to settle the score with the Chief Military Governor. However, I'm not going to forgive that b*stard Nathan. I'm going to kill his whole family to avenge you, Mr. Quillen.”

The next day, Nathan, along with Colin, boarded a normal plane in plain clothes and returned to Channing from Brimmopolis.

Cayden's case was over, and Penny's birthday was in two days.

Coincidentally, Nathan was mostly done with his work, so he decided to take a break to go home and spend time with his family.

In the afternoon, Nathan reached Channing.

When he stepped out of the airport with Colin, a BMW 7 Series rolled to a stop before him.

Penny and Ava came down from the car.

As it turned out, Penny was about to leave her office when she received a call from Nathan and found out that he was back.

Overjoyed, she rushed to the airport with Ava to pick him up.

“Hubby!”

The moment she saw Nathan, she could no longer hide her excitement. She shed off her stoic chairman’s demeanor and threw herself into Nathan's arms.

Nathan beamed as he combed his fingers through her hair and said, “I remember that your birthday is on the day after next. Since I was done with my work, I took a holiday to come back and celebrate your birthday with you.”

Penny whined, “You should have told me earlier that you're coming back! You came back so abruptly that I didn't even have the time to tell the family about your return. I could only bring Ava along to pick you up.”

Still smiling, Nathan replied, “It's fine. It's not like my return's some kind of important event in which everyone has to come and welcome me back.”

Penny said, “Dad, Mom, and Queenie will be absolutely thrilled to find out that you're back.”
