That was a threat, and a rather blatant one too.
Nathan's gaze grew cold as well.
He flashed Baccio and his companions an indifferent look as he replied calmly, “It's not a good idea to be making such baseless accusations, Mr. Baccio. We used to fight alongside the Curia, and I have deep respect for Eugene IV, so I will allow you to retract your statement and apologize.”
Nathan's voice wasn't loud, but it was very powerful.
Baccio instantly felt an immense pressure after hearing that and began sweating from his forehead.
Nathan is right. With his current strength and status, he has no reason to tolerate any disrespect. As the Chief Elder of the Curia, I am pushing my luck a bit too much by threatening him.
For a moment there, Baccio was starting to regret his actions.
However, Pope Eugene had stated that they must rescue the three Demigods from Nathan. Otherwise, God King of the Divine Realm would be enraged. If that were to happen, then not only would the Curia get in trouble, but it could also doom all of humanity.
Moreover, Eugene IV would have the opportunity to journey to the Divine Realm and become one of its citizens.
If anything happened to the three Demigods of Helios during their time on Earth, then Eugene IV would lose his chance to ascend to the Divine Realm and become one of its people.
As such, Eugene IV ordered Baccio and his men to rescue the three Demigods from Nathan at all costs.
Although Baccio regretted angering Nathan, he knew there was no turning back.
At that point, all he could do was stand his ground till the very end.
“And I, too, have made myself very clear, Mr. Cross. You must release the Curia's three honored guests, or you will have to bear the consequences,” he said in a deep voice.
Nathan said coldly, “It seems that you have no intention of seizing the opportunity I gave you. In that case, there's no need for me to honor our past, nor is there any need to show Eugene IV any respect.”
Realizing that the situation had turned hostile, Baccio couldn't care less about being tactful anymore.
He narrowed his eyes and said, “You are not the one giving us an opportunity, Mr. Cross. On the contrary, it us who are giving you an opportunity. So, you won't admit that you're a vampire, huh? Very well, then. We shall make you reveal your true self right here and now! Let's see what else you will have to say when you enter the ferocious combat form of a vampire!”
Whoosh!
