ELISE'S POV
Jackson's eyes were wild with fury. His claws were extended and ready to strike. I braced myself, knowing that the blow would come any second. My mind raced with so many thoughts. I tried to understand what I had done to provoke this rage. What did I do to him?
One minute I was in the garden all by myself and the next thing I know, I was being harassed by Jackson. Just as I squeezed my eyes shut, awaiting the blow, the impact never came. Instead, I felt a strange tension in the air.
There was a pause in Jackson's movement. I opened my eyes slowly, heart still pounding.
To my surprise, there was a strong hand gripping Jackson's wrist. Jackson, Gina, and I turned at the same time to see who it was. My breath caught in my throat. It was the Ferris.
His calm, cool demeanor was different from Jackson's sweaty, nervous appearance at the sight of him. What was King Ferris doing here?
He stood tall. His presence commanded respect and exuded an air of authority as usual. His breathing was heavy. I could tell he was annoyed. My wolf stirred within me, rejoicing at the sight of him.
Despite the fear and confusion I felt, I couldn't help but admire how Ferris was dressed. He was dressed in a corporate shirt with pants. The shirt he had on emphasized his muscles even more. His hair was tied in a bun.
"What do you think you're doing?" King Ferris asked calmly, "Why do you dare to hit a woman?"
Jackson's face was filled with fear "She attacked me first, without provocation," That's a lie! I wanted to scream and tell Ferris that Jackson was lying but I didn't want to cause a scene.
"I find that hard to believe," he said, waving Jackson's words aside. "I warn you, Jackson, never touch Elise again." There was a deadly calm in Ferris's voice as he spoke, which only made Jackson tremble more.
