ELSE'S POV

I still couldn’t fully grasp that Ferris had saved me again, brought me to his house, and instructed a maid to care for me. We had only just met, yet he showed me more care and concern than anyone else ever had. It was overwhelming, and I was so grateful to him. From his appearance, he seemed cold but ever since we met, he had been nothing but kind to me.

As I laid in the comfortable bed, my mind wandered to Ferris. I closed my eyes, thinking of the way he had carried me in his strong muscular arms. I felt perfect inside his arms, like I belonged there, like it was meant to be.

My wolf was always excited at the sight of him. He made me feel a sense of safety that I hadn’t felt in a long time. My body tingled at the thought of him. I had never felt this way about anyone before, not even Jackson. I was drawn to him, like a moth to a flame. As I imagined myself in his arms, I imagined his arms in other places of my body. He was so large and strong and....

Fuck! I shook my head, trying to clear off my thoughts. I reminded myself that I was still a married woman. My marriage might have been a nightmare, but it was still my reality.

The door opened and I gasped in shock. Ferris stepped inside. His presence was commanding as usual.

As he stepped inside, the large room became too small all of a sudden. He took up space without even moving or saying anything.

My heart started to beat faster in my chest. I wasn’t expecting to see him, and the sight of him took my breath away.

“Elise,” he said softly, walking closer to me “Your parents are outside. They want to see you.”

The mention of my parents sent a jolt of fear tbrough me. Oh no. This can't be good. They were most likely here to talk about the divorce. The fact that I was in the Lycan King's house wouldn't sit right with them.

I shook my head "No, I don’t want to see them.”

Ferris looked taken aback by my reaction. “I thought you’d be happy to see your parents.”

“They don’t like me,” I said, my voice trembling. “They’ve never cared about me.”

He frowned, clearly not understanding. “Elise, I’m sure you’re exaggerating. They’re your parents.”

I took a deep breath. “You don’t understand, Alpha. They’ve always blamed me for everything. They think I’m a failure.”

He moved closer to the bed with a soft expression. “I’m sorry, Elise. I didn’t know.” His hand reached out and rested on mine.

The touch was electric, sending a wave of sparks through me. Our proximity made my heart race, and for a moment, I thought he might kiss me. We were so close to each other that our noses were almost touching. I got lost in his beautiful orbs every time he was near me.

“I’ll protect you,” he whispered. “If things get rough, I’ll be here for you. Just come down. It'll be rude to tell them to leave " With that, he got and left the room, leaving me breathless and my heart pounding louder than usual. I took a moment to compose myself, then slowly got out of bed. I wondered why I reacted to Ferris the way I did. Why was I so attracted to him? I shifted my thoughts to the issue on ground.

My parents were here. I couldn’t avoid them forever. I might as well get this over with. I left the room and made my way to the living room. My steps were slow. I wished there was a way I could avoid them. My legs felt heavy like lead as I walked. Ferris was there, talking quietly with my parents.

When I arrived, Ferris excused himself to give us some privacy. As soon as my parents saw me, my mother’s expression became filled with anger.
