Seeing Carrie’s pale face looking at him in horror, Mr. Longbottom laughed. He asked, “Were you scared?”

Carrie nodded. She was frightened.

Mr. Longbottom extended his hand again. Carrie looked at it, startled, but she dared not avoid it.

However, he was not going to strangle her again. He simply caressed her face with a heartbroken expression, “Look at your face. It’s as pale as a sheet. My bad. I didn’t mean to scare you like that.

“You just have to do my bidding, babe. I won’t kill you. I’ve taken a liking to you. You’re young, vibrant, and beautiful.”

Carrie’s expression still looked terrible.

Although Mr. Longbottom’s tone was gentle, she remained afraid of him. She knew he was a demon who would not even bat an eyelid when he committed murder.

“Mr. Longbottom.”

Carrie stuttered. “I’ll do my best and complete the mission you gave me. Serenity didn’t recognize me when I appeared before her with my new face. It gave me a lot of confidence.

“I’ll try to overcome my fear of Mr. York as best as I can. I won’t expose anything that’ll make them target me.”

Carrie quickly expressed her loyalty to him in order to live. She dared not flirt with him anymore.

Mr. Longbottom smiled. “I believe you can shake off your fear of Zachary soon. He isn’t as scary as the Buchams. Zachary receives lots of help from them, which makes him seem daunting. In truth, he’s just resourceful.”

Mr. Longbottom’s legitimate wife was an elegant and dignified woman. Among all the women he had been with, he was still most satisfied with his wife.

Nevertheless, no matter how well she maintained her appearance, she was still not as striking as the younger women after hitting middle age. Now that he had power and money, he could have any type of woman he wanted.

As long as Mr. Longbottom did not threaten his wife’s position and hand over his main businesses to their three sons, she would turn a blind eye to his affairs.

However, that would not be the case if he got another woman pregnant. If that happened, she would not sit still.

Mr. Longbottom thought of his three sons and one daughter he had with his wife. His children were good enough to be his successors. He did not need to have that many illegitimate children. Therefore, if any of his lovers did happen to get pregnant, he would simply let his wife do anything she wanted. At most, he would give his lovers some money to solve any issues.

If they resented him for making them lose their children, he would simply find another woman and give the woman who offended him to another person. By doing so, he could even gain some benefits.
