She Can't Be Your Mate novel Chapter 5

"Sorry about that." I immediately calmed down at the sound of her voice and unclenched my hands.

"Let's just go before I change my mind about letting you go," I said and started to walk out of my office. We had a long car ride ahead of us, and I planned on using it to get to know this girl as much as possible. I stopped by the security room.

"Get my car ready," I told my head guard, Maddox.

"Which one Al-" I sent him a glare and shook my head.

"She's human. And important so watch what you say." I said through the mind link and Maddox grinned.

"Congratulations Alpha." He replied.

"Uh which one sir?" Maddox cleared his throat and said out loud.

I turned to the girl -God I hate calling her that- and smirked. "Fast or super fast?" I asked her, already knowing the answer.

"Super fast." My jaw nearly dropped and my eyes widened. She doesn't even know how much harder she's making this. I nodded and walked out of the room grabbing her arm in the process. I don't think I can ever get used to the sparks, I know she feels them too but she has no idea what they are. I want her to know everything, and to be a part of my world. I abruptly stopped walking and turned around to face her, she was so close to my face, I could easily lean down to kiss her. Her lavender scent filled my nostrils as she sent me a questioning look.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Uh," She furrowed her brows, one of the things she does when she's thinking. "Claire." My heart dropped. She's lying to me because she doesn't trust me.

"Don't lie to me." She sighed and took a deep breath.

"Devina." My heart raced, I knew she was telling the truth. I couldn't help smiling.

"It's a beautiful name." And I wasn't lying, even the sound of her name made me feel things. I turned back around and started walking again, making sure Davina was close behind. "And so are you," I muttered, knowing she wouldn't be able to hear me. Not with human ears.

"Wait, Zane," I stopped in my tracks and smiled. This is the first time she has said my name. I wanted to hear her scream it. I shook my head and turned around. "Thank you. For letting me go, I mean. I just wanted to say that before I leave." I took another step closer, not able to resist.

"You don't actually think I was just going to let some random guy take you home, do you?" She took a shaky breath and I smirked at the effect I have on her.

"You don't have to do that. I'll be fine."
