She Can't Be Your Mate novel Chapter 50

"Is-" I swallowed and contemplated asking this. "Will the other stuff hurt?" I shyly asked. I could tell he was smiling. "Don't laugh!"

"I'm not laughing, I'm just glad you feel comfortable with me enough to ask me that." He smiled and kissed the top of my head. "Yes, if you haven't done it before it will hurt a little." I nodded.

"Well, I've done something like it before," I smirked, feeling him tense behind me.

"What? With who?" He growled. I pretended to think.

"It was with this really cute guy," I started making him growl again. "Not too long ago."

"Did we know each other?" I pretended to think again.

"Yeah, we did." He flinched but I still turned around. "Did I mention he was cute?" He angerly looked away and rolled his eyes. "And did I mention, it was last night?" I turned his face so he was looking at me and slid into his lap.

"It was me right? I'm the guy?" I giggled and kissed down his neck.

"Yes." He smiled and pulled me closer.

"I'm not cute." I kissed the tip of his nose and laughed. "I'm hot. And sexy." I rolled my eyes. "Say it." He playfully demanded.

"You're h-" I was cut off by the doorbell. Zane grabbed my face and looked into my eyes. "Ot." I finished making him narrow his eyes. I smiled and got out of the tub. "We should go get that." Zane nodded and threw me a shirt that was lying on the ground. I caught it and slid it on over my head. I hurried down the stairs and right when I was opening the door Zane came rushing down.

"No. Don't-" But it was too late, I looked beyond the doorframe at someone familiar.

"Zane." The girl cooed making em flinched. "You were supposed to call me." She pouted and walked right past me. I blinked a few times and watched as she placed her hand on his bare chest.

"Ashley leave." Ashley. A. took a step back and she merely glanced at me.

"Really? You left to be with her?" Zane sent her a warning look but she smirked and continued. "Those couple of weeks before you went into heat and Zane had left?" She started looked directly at me. "He was with me. And I can tell you one thing. We barely ever left the bedroom." I blinked again as my heart broke into a million pieces. "But that's not all. When Dylan came to get him, Zane almost didn't go." She pulled out her phone and tapped on the screen and an audio recording started to play.

"What the hell do you want?" I heard Zane ask. "Here to take my toys away too?" My breath caught in my throat as I looked back at the face of that voice. He shook his head and tried to come forward but I held my hand out, wanting to hear the rest.

"Hello, Dylan. Long time no see." I heard Gwen speak.

"I'm better off without a mate." My heart clenched as the recording stopped.

"Devina please just-"

"Let you explain? You don't need to. I understand. You're better off without me. I understand perfectly." And with that, I turned on my heel and ran into the woods.

~Zane's POV~

She turned and ran. Away from me and the rest of her problems. I fell to my knees, not able to comprehend what just happened. I heard Gwen giggle and that's what set me off.

"YOU BITCH!" I screamed and pinned her against the nearest wall. Even with my hands around her neck, she still managed to smile.

"J-just like-" Her eyes rolled to the back of her head but then, unfortunately, came back. "Old times." She finished.

"I'm going to kill you," I said before ripping her head right off of her neck. Her headless body went limp and without me holding it up, I fell to the floor. I threw the head across the living room and ran outside. "Devina!" I screamed and followed her scent into the trees. After a few more minutes of running, I could smell her. I looked all around but didn't see her so I started talking. "I thought I was better off without you. I did." My voice cracked as I fell to the ground. "But I can't live without you. I would be nothing without you. You don't make me weak Devina. You make me stronger." I heard movement and my head snapped towards the direction. There she stood in just my shirt which was now all torn and dirty. She looked over my appearance and took a step back. I must look terrible right now. "I'm not asking you to forgive me right now. I know I've done too much to forgive but I'm sorry. I am so so sorry." She nodded and took a few steps forward. I closed my eyes and stood up on my feet, swaying a little. "I'm sorry." When I opened my eyes she was only a few inches away from me.
