She Can't Be Your Mate novel Chapter 51

"I'm glad we didn't go all the way." She finally spoke making me flinch. "I'm glad," A tear fell down her cheek making me want to comfort her and make her feel better. "I'm glad I really know what you are." She shoved me and I didn't resist, I deserved that. "You're a monster." Shove. And that. "When you first changed, that's what I thought." Shove. " And you made me believe that you weren't. That I belong with you." Shove. "That we were meant to be. You lied. To yourself and to me. You." Shove. "Lied." Shove. My back hit the tree but I didn't make her stop, she needed to get this all out. She was sobbing now, probably could barely see me through her watery eyes. "Why do you always do this Zane?" She screamed. "Why do you always ruin things?!" She slid to the ground and so did I. "Why do you always," She hiccuped. "Hurt me?" My heart broke.

"I'm sorry. I know I promised I would never hurt you, Devina. I'm sorry I let you down. I'm sorry for everything, Sunshine. If I could go back and change things I would," I tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and she let me. "But I wouldn't change meeting you. I'm selfish, I know that. Believe me, I do." She whimpered and laid her head down in my lap. She's too good for me, I don't deserve her and she doesn't deserve this. "But I'm going to leave. You don't deserve this Sunshine. I don't deserve you. I've done nothing but hurt you." She jerked up and shook her head.

"Y-you can't just leave!" She yelled but I sucked in a deep breath, tried my best to push my feelings aside and stood up. "NO!" She screamed trying to pull my hand back. I kept walking. "I-I won't let you leave me, Zane!" Tears streamed down my face as I tore her off of me. "The last time I hurt myself or even thought about it was before I met you." I stopped walking and ran my fingers through my hair. Is she threatening to hurt herself if I leave?

"Don't Devina. Don't threaten me." I turned back around and saw that she was on her knees, with tear stained cheeks.

"I-I'm not. I'm saying that I'm happier with you." She whispered. I closed my eyes, not being able to look at her going through so much pain. "I can't live without you either." I fell to the ground and rested my forehead on my knees. For one of the first times in my life, I don't know what to do. "You can't leave me. You'd hurt me more if you leave." After a few minutes, when I didn't say anything. She got up. "Fine! Leave!" She started walking away but before she could get very far I made my decision and jumped up, grabbing her hand, turning her around and smashing my lips onto hers. Her kisses were like the first gulp of water after a thousand years of wandering through the desert. She clenched my thirst more than water ever could.
