"I'm sorry. I fucked up. Again." I pushed the covers away and sat a little straighter. "I don't know why I keep doing this. I keep-" I lept off of the bed and crashed my lips onto his. He responded quickly and pushed us down on the bed. "No, wait. I need to say this first." For one of the first times, he was the one who pushed me back and sat up.
"No, I need to say something." I swallowed the lump in my throat and pulled my knees up to my chest.
"Just let me talk first. Please." I nodded, signaling for him to continue. "I know you don't understand. I can't blame you, I know this is all too much for you I just-" I cut him off by leaning forward and holding his head with my hands.
"No, that's what I'm trying to say. I do understand. I know that wasn't you. Not really. I'm sorry. So sorry. I thought if I pushed you away then I wouldn't be caught up in this anymore, that I wouldn't get hurt. But I'm even more hurt without you here." He pulled away again and moved back.
"You're hurt because of me."
"No. No, I'm hurt because I miss you, Zane. So much. I miss not having you around." He shook his head and stood up.
"No, you were fine here without me. Don't worry, I'll go. I won't stick around again like I did last time. I'll go." I quickly stood up and grabbed his arm, pulling him back.
"Please don't go. I'm begging you Zane don't leave me again." He removed his arm from my grasp and moved towards the door. "No! Please!" I fell to the ground, sobbing. "Don't leave me," I whispered as he shut the door behind him. It took me a few moments to gather myself, but eventually, I shot up and ran after him like I should have many times before. "Zane!" I screamed as he moved into his car. He stopped and slowly turned around.
"Just let me go, Devina!" He yelled, anger flashing in his green eyes.
"But what about us? Huh? You said we were meant to be and now you're just leaving me!? You promised you wouldn't hurt me! I love you!" He closed his eyes for a brief moment then opened them back up, taking a deep breath.
