She Can't Be Your Mate novel Chapter 80

"Zane just calm down. It's okay." She looked around again and grabbed my arm, pulling us all outside. "Is she okay? I didn't mean to worry her." I nodded, the only person she should be apologizing to is me. I was more worried than Hailey was. I turned towards the bloodsucker standing very close to my mate and scowled.

"And who the fuck is this? Why are you with a vampire?" Her blue eyes darted from the guy and me. Did she not know what he is?

"What?" She finally spoke. "You're a vampire?" I could tell she was surprised. "Is that how you're still here? You were a vampire the whole time?" She backed away from the guy and stood closer to me.

"Flower, you don't understand. If I told you, you'd run away!" My fists clenched again as he called her Flower.

"Don't. Call. Her. That." I growled, pushing him back away from her.

"And who the hell is this dog?" I punched him straight in the jaw again, hearing a satisfying pop. It's probably broken. I faintly heard Devina gasp before stepping in between us, right as the man threw his first punch. I felt the pain through my body as his fist collided with her cheek. I yanked her back and leveled our eyes.

"How much does it hurt? We should take you to the hospital." The guy behind us froze and immediately started throwing out apologies. "Shut the hell up or I won't hesitate to kill you! In fact, maybe I should. You just punched my mate." His cold, lifeless eyes widened as he looked at Devina.

"Mate?" Devina looked down and nodded like she was ashamed of me.

"You left. You were still alive and you couldn't even bother to let me know. Right after you said how you felt." My heart froze, is this him? Devina turned towards me and sadly smiled. "Zane, this is Forrest. Forrest this is Zane, my mate." I forgot completely about Forrest as she called me her mate. It's been too long without hearing her voice, much less her saying that.

"You'd never be happy with him Devina, and you know it. Come back with me. We can pick up where we left off. We never even had a real date." He sweetly smiled, trying to get her to pick him over me. She frowned and just stared at him. I held my breath, readying myself for her choice.

"Don't do this?" He whispered, leaning in more. I sucked in a deep breath and closed my eyes, waiting for him to close the distance. "Okay. I won't." My eyes snapped open as I frowned. He was looking out his side of the window.

"Don't come back," I said as I climbed out of the car.

"No, look I'm sorry. That wasn't cool. Just, let me take you somewhere to eat. It's early, you're probably hungry." I shook my head and slammed the door behind me, jogging up to my house and into my room. Sighing, I changed into some comfortable clothes and slid into bed. After a few minutes the door of my bedroom opening making me sigh. These past few weeks have drained me of more energy I thought my body could hold. With Zane just popping up along with Forrest, my whole mind is fogged up. He said it wasn't him but when I woke up with Forrest in the car, there was a bite mark on my neck. I turned over on my back and sighed.

"Gwen, I'm-" I started, sitting up but stopped talking as I saw who was there. "What the hell Zane? How did you even get in?" He put his finger up to his mouth and slowly shutting the door behind him. Once the door was shut, he slowly turned around and crept over to me. He stopped at the end of the bed and looked down.
