Chapter 125
“What’s going on?”
Sebastian’s expression slowly cooled, and his gaze became icy.
“Dev hit him?”
Scarlett quickly shook her head. “It’s not him, it’s James…”
“Make it clear,” Sebastian said with a frown.
Scarlett had no alternative but to divulge to him all that had transpired in the hotel.
The man, his brows tightly knitted, relaxed slightly upon realizing that she had not done that with Dev.
Upon hearing that she was almost violated by the bodyguards brought by James, his thick eyebrows that had just relaxed furrowed together again.
Almost instinctively, the man took out his phone and made another call. “Deedy Hunt, terminate James!”
Upon receiving the call from the President, Vice President Hunt promptly responded with respect, “Affirmative.”
Scarlett looked at Sebastian who was on the phone, and was taken aback; he had actually been helping her deal with James.
Did he help her because he knew she had almost been touched by someone else, or was it out of care for her?
Scarlett thought of Vice President Hunt, who James mentioned, and could not help but ask him, “Is that Deedy… Vice President Hunt?”
Upon hearing this, Sebastian’s expression remained unchanged, yet his eyes shifted slightly and he gave a slight nod in
response.
Scarlett’s face sank when she saw him nod, and James accused her of having colluded with Vice President Hunt to deceive him, even suspecting that Vice President Hunt was Mr. Yea.
She wanted to ask Sebastian what was happening, without giving away that she had been intimate with Mr. Yea.
She was afraid that he would be angry and think her promiscuous, and even more fearful of his verbal insults, so she dared not speak.
Sebastian gazed at Scarlett, whose face was ashen, and lifted his hand to caress her cheek. “Hang in there for a bit,” he said. His broad palm almost encompassed her little face, and as his fingers repeatedly caressed her face, Scarlett felt as if she were in a dream.
The man in front of her seemed to be deeply concerned for her wellbeing, as if her safety was etched into his very bones.
Sebastian, upon seeing her eyes wide open in disbelief, snapped back to reality, swiftly released his hand, spun around, and hastened out.
Scarlett, peering through the ward’s glass, observed that he appeared to be instructing the female doctor, Lanny, to examine her back first.
Lanny soon entered with an armful of instruments, and under Sebastian’s watchful eye, she began to inspect the wound on
Scarlett’s back.
“The soft tissue on your back has been injured. I’ll give you some medication to help with the pain first. Hang in there a bit.”
After Lanny finished speaking, she took out a can of ointment, scooped a spoonful into her palm, rubbed it open, and applied it to her back.
Scarlett felt the gentle technique, yet it was so piercingly painful that it made her sweat cold.
Sebastian stepped forward and gently held Scarlett’s trembling shoulder, the warmth of his palm causing her to grit her
teeth and bear it.
Lanny, after experiencing a piercing pain, took additional tubes of blood for testing.
Scarlett, exhausted after a round of torture, closed his eyes, wanting to fall asleep, yet feeling uneasy. He glanced at
Sebastian
“Mr. Jackman…
She forced herself to keep her eyes open and looked at Sebastian, who was sitting in front of the hospital bed and watching over her. “Can you let Mr. Gatsby go ahead?”
Her peach blossom eyes, which had finally softened, suddenly grew cold again as she continued to think of Dev.,
“Look after yourself first!”
Without so much as a backward glance, Sebastian rose and departed.

Scarlett helplessly sighed as the watched the cold and distant figure disappear from her sight.
Sebastian remained as cold and unfeeling as ever.
After Lanny had tested the blood, she returned the report to the ward, yet Sebastian was nowhere to be seen
