Chapter 126
“Can I not tell him?”
“Yes”
Lanny nodded and asked, “What’s the connection between you two?”
She had never seen Sebastian show such care for a woman before, which piqued her curiosity. Scarlett replied lightly. “I used to be a stand–in for his dream girl, but now… no connection”
“Dream girl” Lanny smiled. “Are you referring to Scarlee?”
Scarlett nodded, her expression noncommittal, and Lanny’s smile broadened.
After instructing Scarlett to rest well, she said little else before turning and walking out of the ward.
Once Lanny had departed. Scarlett could no longer keep her eyes open. She drifted off into a deep slumber. When she awoke, she found Sebastian sitting beside her without knowing how long she had been asleep.
Wearing a black turtleneck sweater, his fair skin and picturesque features were illuminated by the sunlight. His entire being radiated a regal and graceful air, causing people to not dare to easily blaspheme or come near him. He held the slender report between his fingers, flipping through its pages with his long eyelashes lowered
Lanny’s creation of a fake report did not elicit any change in his expression when he read it.
Lanny kept her promise, not only helping her hide it, but also getting her a fake report, so she wouldn’t have to worry.
Sebastian had already left, yet he was still standing in front of her bed.
Scarlett forced herself to sit up, only to be met with a bone–like pain as she moved, pulling the wound on her back.
“Don’t move.”
Sebastian, upon seeing that she had awoken, shifted his position. His face grew stern, and he extended his arm to support her as she leaned forward.
With his help. Scarlett slowly shifted her body sideways, thus avoiding any contact with the injury on her back.
She was so thirsty that she wanted to drink water.
She looked up at Sebastian and saw a face that was as unyielding as ice for thousands of years, so the words that were about to come out of her mouth were left unsaid.
Reaching out her hand to take the glass of water beside the bed, she found that the blood on her hand had been washed away and her body had been changed into a hospital gown.
“What do you want?”
Before she could ponder who had aided her with the hands and garments, she heard Sebastian’s indifferent yet gentle voice above her.
“Water…”
Sebastian picked up the cup next to him, then, cradling her waist, he lifted her upper body and personally fed her water.
Scarlett paused, suspiciously eyeing him, as if attempting to detect any alteration in his expression.
However, he had no change in expression. He remained as indifferent and distant as ever, yet his gaze towards her was softer than before.
