She’s Married, Sir (Scarlett and Sebastian) novel Chapter 213

Chapter 213

On the seventh day of Scarlett’s death. Dev returned to A Town.

He took a file bag and went to Susan’s apartment

As soon as Susan had finished preparing the food that Scarlett used to enjoy, she set it on the table and spotted Dev entering

After he came in, he glanced at the food on the table and asked Susan in surprise, “Why did you make so much?”

Susan’s eyes were filled with sadness. “I heard that the deceased will come back on the seventh day. Before Scarlett passed, she didn’t get to eat the porridge I bought. She had been hungry for several days. I don’t want her to starve when she comes back, so I prepared more for her…….”

Upon hearing this, Dev’s face paled and a deep anguish engulfed him, leaving him unable to draw breath.

Yes, Scarlett didn’t eat or drink anything before she died.

Dev, unable to bear the thought of Scarlett’s miserable death, felt unsteady on his feet. He grabbed hold of the dining table and chairs to steady himself.

When Susan saw him in this state, she quickly instructed him to take a seat. She then headed to the kitchen, laid out a set of clean cutlery, and set it aside. “Let’s eat with her,” she said.

Dev, with a pale face, nodded and accepted the silverware from Susan. Taking the food, he put it in his mouth, but the taste

was lost on hum

Susan could not eat either but forced herself to do so. She had to cheer up and have the strength to retaliate against Cosmo

and the woman!

Dev ate a few mouthfuls, then put down the fork and picked up the document bag, handing it to Susan.

“Susan, these are my real estate properties. I have transferred them into your name.”

“Furthermore, I have transferred the non-real estate assets to your bank account. You can check the exact amount later.”

“Don’t work at the nightclub in the future. Look after yourself and don’t get too exhausted.”

The more Susan listened, the more she felt like he was saying his last words. She felt very uneasy. “What are you planning to do?”

The corners of Dev’s lips curved upwards, and he smiled serenely. “Don’t worry. I assured Scarlett that I’d look after you properly. But you’re aware that Im running the Gatsby Group, so I don’t have the time to visit. The only thing I can do is give you as much money as I can.”

After he finished speaking, a hint of guilt appeared in his eyes. “I ought to have looked after you two when 1 came back to Gatsby Group, but I had a lapse of memory and that made you and Scarlett suffer for five years…”

He had sem people to investigate and found out that Scarlett had sold herself to cover the surgery fees and had borrowed two hundred thousand from YH for the follow-up treatment.

For the past five years, she had been frugal, often hesitating to spend money.

Susan, meanwhile, was promoting alcohol day and night at the nightclub, often being bullied and embarrassed by some vulgar customers.

When he was young, he had promised to be the head of the family when he grew up and take on the responsibility of caring for them, yet he reneged on his pledge.

Every time he thought of this, he felt so guilty that he couldn’t sleep, wishing he could go back in time and slap himself.

Susan didn’t care about this. She comforted him and said, “Even if you didn’t return to the Gatsby Group, Scarlett and I still could work. We wouldn’t let you take care of us”

After she finished speaking, she handed the document bag back to Dev. “So, you can take this back. I can earn money myself”

However, Dev wouldn’t let her decline and said, “Susan, you should accept it. Consider it my way of making amends for my mistakes in the past few years.
