Evelyn’s POV
My eyes opening and the first thing I see is the canopy over the bed. Sitting up, I hear growling making my head snap toward the chair by the door. Thaddeus’s hypnotic green eyes staring back at me, his glare chills me to the bone making me want to shrink under his intense gaze. His hands clenched so tight I could see his knuckles pressed tightly against his skin. I gulp before forcing myself to look away, terror running through me.
Now I utterly understood what it meant to be scared of the dark king. His anger filling the room like a thick cloud, it was almost hard to breathe. My skin felt like it was crawling making me itchy as he stood up making me jump off the bed and move toward the window.
It was a high drop, but I would rather that than his wrath. My hands shaking as I gripped the windowsill behind me as he approached, stalking towards me and I suddenly felt tiny, in front of this monster of a man, never in my life have I felt so small and breakable.
Just as he went to say something the door opened, and I let out the breath I was holding, as I watch Orion walk in the room. My relief was short lived when I see the look on his face mirroring Thaddeus’s. He was livid and I made him that way. His usually calm demeanour now frightening as he walked over, his eyes blood red and his fangs protruding.
“Do you have any idea what you have done?” Thaddeus spits through gritted teeth, his hands shaking at his sides. Yet the rational part of my brain wasn’t working, and I instantly regretted the words that left my lips.
“You are acting like I whored myself out, I left, I came back. No harm done” I tell him. Thaddeus fist goes through the wall next to my face making me jump.
“You think you did nothing wrong?” He stated and I didn’t bother answering.
“You disobeyed us” He screamed in my face making me cower away from him. Tears brimming and spilling onto my cheeks, my entire body starts trembling in fear.
Thaddeus grips my face forcing me to look at him, his fingers digging into my jaw as his hands shook, he wanted to kill me. I could see it in his eyes, he wanted to hurt me, and I know if Orion weren’t standing next to him, he would have.
“I’m sorry” I stutter before bursting into tears which only seemed to anger him more. Like seriously what more did he want from me?
“You’re sorry? Will sorry save the people of that town when I burn it to the ground?” he asks making my tear-filled eyes dart to his before going to Orion begging him to tell me he is only joking.
“Or should I go pay Lana a visit? Is that what you want?” he asks gripping my face tighter making me cry out as his nails dig in. The lights flickering above casting shadows on the walls, and I could tell he was losing control.
“No, please. I won’t leave again” I blurt out in panic.
“You’re right, you won’t be leaving again. You will not be leaving this house ever again” he says through gritted teeth before grabbing my face with both hands and jerking me towards him. I see Orion grab his arm trying to calm him before he suddenly let’s go stepping back.
“You did this to yourself” Orion says before turning his back on me and walking out, abandoning me with my monster of a mate. I feel fog slipping over me, it felt cold. As cold as his anger making me shudder as it rushed through every cell in my body making my stomach drop somewhere deep within me. It wasn’t relaxing like it usually was when they used the fogginess on me. No, this raised goosebumps on my skin and fear consumed me paralysing me where I stood nearly making me wet myself in fear, it was cold and demeaning.
“You will not leave this house unless I say, and you will obey my every command” I felt tears burning my eyes, my mouth speaking even though I knew this was wrong. I wanted to scream at him, yet the force of his command smashed against me like waves hitting rocks on the beach, violent and relentless and I knew what ever he asked of me I would not be able to deny him. My entire body shook as the words left my lips hypnotically and I felt like I was placed on auto pilot as I said them, not even recognising my own voice.
