With Sebastian, Hope, and the nurse all looking at her in surprise, Emily looked so calm as if she was long ready to say the words.
"Bring her in!"
The nurse hesitated for a second. Whilst Sebastian was obviously impatient and annoyed, he told the nurse, "She is my wife."
"Mrs. Clark, come with me." the nurse said.
Emily clenched her teeth and followed the nurse in with her mind all blank.
That was due to vasovagal syncope.
Sebastian smoked fiercely outside the operating room, one by one without pause. Hope wanted to remind him that he was in the no-smoking area, but the phone started vibrating.
She had a glance at it and said, "Mr. Clark, Arex called, probably because of the land in the L District."
Sebastian immediately put out his cigarette and took the phone then walked away. He walked forward rhythmically with his long legs. Hope, who was also quite high herself, had to trot to barely keep up.
"Which company is competing with us for this bidding?" He asked as he walked, holding his mobile phone but won’t answer it.
Hope replied thoughtfully, "It's… Prosperity."
Sebastian suddenly stopped his footstep, but he quickly got back his mind. He frowned in thought, as he wondered that could be the reason why Oskar Miller came back from K City and tried to get entangled with his sister. His sister was never what he wanted then, so he was afraid that he needed to know more about this man through Fiona.
"Call Mr. Williams from S City and tell him that Seaview Properties would take the land in L District at all costs!"
Hope followed his instruction. In the meanwhile, Ewan Burke and Sabrina Rogers just came out of the department of obstetrics and gynecology and happened to run into Sebastian.
The two of them had met each other because of business. Although the size of Silton Construction was far less than one-third of Seaview Properties, however it was still a business run by the Burke family for the past generations. Ewan graduated from university and wanted to start his own design business, but as the only child in the family, there was no one else who could take care of the family business except for him, so he had to take what his father had left him.
The cooperation project with Seaview Properties was not very big, and even the prospective was full of uncertainty. However, he didn’t want to lose the connections with the Clark family.
Ewan was a person who valued connections the most. He chatted with Sebastian for a while, and he asked as he was just curious, "Mr. Clark, is it someone in your family that gets sick, is that why you are staying so late in this hospital?"
He knew something about Emily and her past, and these two people in front of him were her ex-boyfriend and her “good friend” who had betrayed her.
"My wife is sick." Sebastian replied euphemistically.
Sabrina’s eyes widened, "Mr. Clark, when did you get married? Why didn’t we hear any news from you?”
This thirty-years-old bachelor from C City got married this year? That’s really unlikely. A few days ago, there was report about he was in and out of a hotel with a young model, and the marriage just happened in a flash.
This marriage could be a shameful one. There have been dating rumors about him and no one would believe it was fake. Ewan and Sabrina both were just playing dumb.
She thought of every way to destroy the reputation of that woman, "She is a bitch. She would hook up with anyone as long as they are guys. If it wasn’t because what happened between her and the interviewer in Dier, how could she met and married Sebastian so easily?"
Ewan was not at all mean or evil. He had a pure heart, but at that time his desire made him do something that shouldn't have been done. Now he was feeling extremely regretful. It seemed like he couldn’t say that he truly love Sabrina.
He frowned and stared at this sloppy woman in front of him, saw her as cheap commodity, without the slightest pity and love, and he told her, "Sabrina, I can’t bear with you anymore, I know Emily better than you and what kind of person she is, so please don’t..."
Upon his response, Sabrina was more anxious, and she retorted with a worse attitude than his, "Ewan Burke, don't tell me that I don't know anything, you can't forget about that bitch after being with me for so long, right? What's so good about her? She committed a lot of sins, she dared to do anything with no conscience at all, but she won’t admit it..."
Ewan slapped Sabrina, the noise produced from the slap sounded very crisp in the aisle of the hospital during the quiet night. Sabrina probably never expected that the man in front of her would ever slap her. His love and care were all disappeared at that moment and his eyes were full of disgust as if she had been tolerated for a long time.
He never believed Emily had done anything wrong. He blamed himself for not being able to save her from the prison, but he did everything he could.
"Oh, you actually beat me for her sake." She held her left cheek and sneered at the corner of her mouth. The smile wafted across her face, and the bright and enchanting makeup on her face made him look like a witch, "You wanted show kindness towards her. Begging everyone and did everything to get her out from the prison. What a loving and caring ex-boyfriend. By the way, how does she return your favor, huh? She is now Mrs. Clark, Ewan Burke! You know what? You will regret doing this to me."
Ewan looked at this angry woman in front of him, and he turned around and walked towards the end of the aisle. He half-closed his eyes and felt anguish in his heart.
He thought that as long as he did his best to treat her well and protect her, that would be enough.
But when he discovered that she became Mrs. Clark, Sebastian’s wife, his heartache was about to burst. He almost rushed and grab Sebastian’s collar just to ask for the real truth, if there was any untold stories behind their marriage, and if there was any unwillingness in this marriage they didn’t acknowledge.
