When Emily woke up, it was already half an hour later after what just happened, and she was the only one in the ward, it was so quiet that she could hear the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze outside the window.
Fiona had just got out of danger and Emily guessed that everyone was with her at the moment, so she sat up and straighten her back, preparing to get out of bed.
She felt dizzy and started fainting again. While she was about fall and slam her head to the ground, a hand came from nowhere just held her on her waist to stabilize her body.
"Are you OK?"
Emily raised her eyes and saw Ewan's haggard and concerned face.
"I'm fine." She retracted her gaze, resisting the disgust from the bottom of her heart to not remove his hand from her waist.
Ewan completely understood how she felt right now, after that he put her back onto the bed, he quickly released his hand on her waist, and the quiet room resounded with a nice soft voice, "It's okay."
She saw this man in front of her, she felt her chest was tight and she couldn't breathe. She hesitated to ask him why he was here as she would seem to care too much if she actually asked.
Emily thought for a while, and said, "I want to rest a bit."
She was very clear about what she meant, and Ewan understood, so naturally they knew what each other meant.
"You married Sebastian just want to take back Morris Properties, right?"
"This is none of your business."
She was a tough woman. Ewan didn’t feel right to ask more questions so he cautiously replied, "I know the situation in the Clark family is quite complicated. If you need my help..."
"Mr. Ewan, I don't need anyone to help me." Emily showed a very cold expression, afraid that her words would be used against her, and said concisely, "No one can help."
Her words were affirmative, Ewan shut his mouth even though he wanted to say something more. After a long awkward silence, he opened his mouth again.
"Then take care of yourself, congratulations on your marriage."
Ewan walked out the door, as soon as she heard the door closing, she got up again and wanted to go out to get the inspection report.
The report stated that she was not pregnant, her heart sank, she was so disappointed that she tore up the report paper and threw it into any trash bin she could find.
Sebastian came back from visiting his sister Fiona, but he saw the ward was now empty, the bed sheets were messy, but he saw nobody in there.
"Mr. Clark, do you want me to search for her?" Hope said.
"No, you can go back first and have some rest."
Hope always got her job done perfectly but she is not machines after all, and she had been dealing with these kinds of things all day long.
Hope seriously questioned what he said, and Sebastian usually expected his employees to work overtime and stay up late. Now he wanted her to rest and take it easy? Only when pigs could fly.
Sebastian didn't receive any response, then asked, "Is the work too easy for you?"
