After being kicked out from his own property, Lou intended to go to Iris, but at this hour, she most likely be with Cane and tended to him. He wanted to go to Redmond, but he didn’t want to see a child and that redhead warrior had a little girl.
In the end, he went to Ethan’s place, but the gamma was away and there was only Aliana.
"What are you doing here?" Aliana crossed her arms in front of her chest. She judged him. "You look so awful."
"Nala just kicked me out."
"I am going to do the same."
Lou grumbled. "At the very least, let me in."
"No. My mate is not here. I don’t want there is a rumor about it."
Both of them made a look when they imagined there was such nasty rumor about them. That was very terrifying, more than anything that they had ever heard.
"Go back to your home, Lou."
Lou had a lot of properties, countless houses, more than he needed, but he didn’t have a home. A place that he could call home did not exist.
"I don’t have a place anywhere, Aliana." Lou rubbed his face roughly, he stared at the vast night sky. He didn’t even know what he wanted now.
He was interested in Iris and seeing her would always excite him, but this feeling wouldn’t go anywhere. He didn’t think it would go somewhere either.
"I don’t talk about place, Lou, sometime home is not always about a house, but someone that we are comfortable with."
Aliana had heard what happened between him and Nala and she understood why this merchant looked like a headless chicken, but Lou was very stubborn to admit it, it was hard for him to accept something that he was not familiar with.
Aliana felt bad for Lou, but that feeling changed in a blink of an eye with his respond.
Lou frowned. "Don’t talk to me with gentle tone. You gave me goosebumps." He shuddered. "Being that kind doesn’t suit you."
The sympathy that Aliana felt for him disappeared, evaporated into thin air. "Go away, Lou! Nala was right to kick you out! Scram!"
"Hey! I am going, I am going!" Lou grumbled and then walked away.
"I will let Ethan know that you come over," Aliana said before she closed the door and she indeed sent Ethan to Lou when the gamma just returned.
"What did you do to my mate?" Ethan kicked Lou’s back, as he sulked near the river. It was not that hard to find him, because his scent engraved in his mind. That was an annoying fact for him.
"I didn’t do anything!" Lou rubbed his back and caught the thing that Ethan tossed to him. It was a waterskin, but both of them knew what was inside. Lou indeed needed a little bit alcohol in his system.
"You came with your morose look on your face."
"Is that even a crime?" Lou gulped down the alcohol. "The city is still lively."
"Tomorrow is the coronation."
Both of them fell silent, as they immersed into the festivities. Those dark days during the war and the slavery seemed like a long dream, the memories during that time had started fading away, it replaced by good ones, though sometime it would come to hunt them in their nightmares, but it was not often.
"So, you are leaving?"
"Yes."
Ethan nodded. "Please, take a good care of them."
"What do you mean? They should be the one, who took a good care of me, because I am willing to go with them."
Ethan scoffed in disdain. Lou didn’t change at all. He still wanted to beat him up sometime. "And you are going to leave Nala and your baby behind?"
With that question, Lou actually fell silent.
"How is it to have a child?"
"You need to ask Redmond about that." Ethan gulped down his drink and Lou didn’t talk about that again.
Actually, there was not much that the two of them were talking about, they didn’t even touch the main topic about why Lou was restless.
But when the sky started to turn brighter, Ethan stood up and stretched his body. "You should have taken Nala with you and raised your baby together."
"No. I will not do that."
Ethan shrugged his shoulders. "You are going to regret that." He looked at his old friend. "If you could handle the problem in this kingdom and help to build it, handling a child will not that hard." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"This kingdom doesn’t poop and pee."
"Right, but surely this kingdom has some shit."
