The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 307

Chapter 307: PLEASE, DON’T HURT HER

Cane closed his eyes and gulped the water, but when the glass was empty, he lowered his hand and smashed it against the table, as it shattered into sharp shards, cutting his cheek and his skin, until his hand bled from the glass being actually crushed under his tight grip.

"Ah!" Hanna shrieked, she looked mortified to see the Alpha. She looked at his back, trembling. Even his back alone looked so scary, she couldn’t imagine his expression right now. "Al- alpha... Miss Iris was just a little kid then... she didn’t know any better... I am sure there was nothing between them. They were just friends back then. Miss Iris was happy because no one played with her... Please, Alpha... think clearly. She was only a poor little child who wanted a friend..."

Hanna blabbered, the way she assumed the situation to be was the same as how Redmond was thinking about what was going on upon facing the Alpha’s questions and reaction.

They assumed the Alpha thought Iris and Prince Kellan had a special connection, that they had a relationship behind his back, back in the day when she was little. If worse came to the worst, they assumed Cane thought Kellan was Iris’ first love or something.

They didn’t know. They really didn’t know...

After all, being someone who was so ignorant of the little horrifying details of what they knew, the way Cane acted right now justified their assumption.

More so, they couldn’t think straight with an enraged alpha within close proximity. His anger was so suffocating.

On the other hand, Cane simply waved his hand to shake off the sharp shards that embedded into his palm, before he pulled them out of his flesh, so he could stop bleeding, yet he didn’t even flinch when he did that. He was numb with pain.

The only thing that rang in his ears was Hanna’s voice, which said Iris couldn’t tell anyone because Prince Kellan told her not to. The same words that she repeated in her dreams with her small voice filled with fear.

A long moment of dreadful silence filled this kitchen and Hanna covered her mouth to muffle her cries, she was so scared.

"Why did Iris forget about that?" Cane asked. If she was happy, why did she forget about that?

Hanna shook her head. "I don’t know, Alpha..." she said, her voice stifled with sobs. She was scared of him, but at the same time, she feared for her missy’s safety. What would the Alpha do to her if he was this angry? "One day Miss Iris hid under her bed and refused to come out and then she came down with a fever for almost three weeks straight... I think, I think at that time she forgot a few things that had happened..."

Hanna tried to explain to Cane why she thought Iris lost some of her memories, including the time that she spent with Prince Kellan and a few times of abuse Mason inflicted on her.

"She even forgot about the stable boy..." Hanna blinked her eyes and then remembered something. "Ah. The day she hid under the bed was the day the stable boy was killed before her eyes by Alpha Gerald. She must be very shocked because of that."

"She remembered the stable boy." Cane knew about this, because Iris had mentioned it in passing in the past.

"Yes, she remembered the stable boy around two months later, but she couldn’t remember the details of how the poor boy had been killed by her father."

No one knew what happened that day, even Hanna couldn’t get to the bottom of it, aside from the fact the poor boy was killed by Alpha Gerald and his body was not in a good condition when they buried him.

"Alpha, please... miss Iris will never harbor any feelings toward Prince Kellan. She is very devoted to you... she will never do something to betray you."

Cane heeded nothing of it, as his mind raced, while trying to control his anger. He had never felt so enraged like this after he was freed from the clutches of Gerald, when he didn’t need to see his people suffer, but right now, he was literally shaking.

There was this urge inside of him that longed for blood. freewebnoveℓ.com

"Alpha Cane... please..." Hanna was afraid Cane would hurt Iris, seeing how angry he was, it was a possibility.
