Once Cane arrived inside the room, he saw how Hanna was squatting down beside the bed, trying to talk to Iris, who was hiding under the bed.
"Get out."
Hanna was startled, she immediately straightened herself, ready to plead with the Alpha. In her mind, she was sure Cane would punish her missy for whatever thing that transpired between the two of them.
She still couldn’t figure out how the situation had escalated so fast and took such a horrible turn. Less than two days earlier, the Alpha had still been so attentive toward his mate. He even stayed up all night to make sure Iris was alright because her allergy flared up, but why did he look like he was going to kill someone?
"Please, Alpha... don’t hurt her..." Hanna begged Cane, she clasped her hands in front of her chest, begging him sincerely, while Ethan, who was standing beside Cane looked confused with the whole situation.
He didn’t have any idea what was actually happening here and why Hanna was crying, begging the Alpha for forgiveness.
"Take her away!" Cane said sternly.
Being left with no other choice, Ethan stepped forward and took Hanna out of the room, while she struggled in his grip, trying to talk to Cane, but the Alpha didn’t even spare her a glance before Ethan dragged her out.
Once the door was closed, he still could hear how Hanna fought with Ethan, trying to get her way back into the bedroom, but the Gamma was bound to oblige an order from the Alpha and couldn’t let her in.
Cane tuned out the noises from outside easily, and immediately he could hear how Iris sobbed softly under the bed. He knelt down and saw her in a curling position, she hugged herself, while crying.
Carefully, Cane pushed away the bed, making sure it wouldn’t hurt his mate in the process and when he could finally reach out to his mate, he pulled her into his arms, but she struggled, trying to fight him, but he didn’t let her go.
Her eyes were shut, while tears streamed down her face. She wouldn’t stop mumbling incoherently.
Cane leaned over, trying to figure out what she was saying and the words came out of her mouth repeatedly were;
’I don’t want to play anymore. I don’t want to play anymore. I don’t want to play anymore.’
After that, Iris was sick for almost two weeks, her body literally burned, but she wouldn’t stop trembling, feeling cold, while sweating profusely. Countless healers were called, but because of her unique constitution, healing magic didn’t really work on her.
On a rare occasion when she woke up, she would cry and say something like;
’I don’t like this game.’
’I don’t want to play.’
’Don’t touch me.’
’I don’t want to touch you...’
Hanna stayed by her side most of the time when Cane was away because the storm that the Alpha had planned was currently brewing inside the palace finally, as the tension and pressure were so thick, especially after the pressure from the Red Claw pack. Their alpha arrived two days ago and they demanded the King to solve the problem as soon as possible, or they wouldn’t give any magic stones from their mines, they would stop sending them the precious magic stones.
And if that happened, it would hit the economy so hard, as the main income of this kingdom came from the trading of the magic stones.
