The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 513

Chapter 513: A NIGHT FOR THEMSELVES

"Hi, Iris! It has been a while since I last saw you!" Lou said excitedly and became overly chummy, waving his hands without even bothered by the sharp glares the warriors threw at him for being so disrespectful and greeting their luna inappropriately. "Finally, we meet again!" Lou tilted his head. "You look chubbier!"

Lou strode inside the dining hall and looked at the food. It was not to his taste, but it was better than anything he had eaten in the last three days.

After he went to the Goffa mountain in search of Cane and Iris, apparently, the Alpha managed to return, but when he was about to go back to the pack, Cane had, maliciously, ordered him to start building some magical devices around the pack.

It would take him weeks before he could go back to the pack house and meet with Iris.

Lou was so mad until he got a second order to find the lizard and give the creature to the guards, so he didn’t need to go to the pack house. Of course, Lou didn’t want to do that and delivered the lizard in person.

"Chu- Chubbier...?" Iris pursed her lips. The merchant probably meant it as a compliment, but you shouldn’t talk about weight with women, especially in front of so many people.

Meanwhile, Cane caught the lizard mid air and stared at the little creature, which looked so dirty and in poor state. He quickly put it in his plate, which made Iris shriek, she forgot about Lou’s comment; how she looked a little fat now.

"Oh! I am so hungry! I was starving in the mountains! Iris, can you believe..." Lou didn’t manage to finish his words, noticing Iris’ attention was clearly not on him.

She had other priorities.

"Cane, don’t put it in your plate!" But, it was too late and she was about to get the poor lizard and ask for another plate of meat for Cane, but her mate simply grabbed her hand and stood up. "Where are you going? You have not finished eating yet." Iris also stood up from her seat, as Cane started pulling her hand to leave with him.

Cane leaned over, almost like he was going to kiss her neck, though he only whispered into her ear. His hand wrapped around her hips while the other went to hold the back of her neck. "I told you that I am going to take you somewhere, let’s go now."

All the warriors’ jaws dropped seeing their assertive alpha standing so close, too close, to his mate, as if they were going to do something... or maybe it was only their minds, which didn’t work so well now and led them in a different direction.

The corners of Jace and Ethan’s lips twitched. If he just wanted to talk with Iris, he didn’t need to make such a vague gesture, right?

But then, their attention shifted back to the merchant, who looked beyond furious.

"Where are you two going? I just arrived and you already want to go?!" Lou was frustrated, but Ethan grabbed his hand and forced him to sit down next to him.

"Come here, my friend. Let’s talk. It has been a while since we met each other!" He said cheerfully, while making sure not to let go of Lou’s hand, so the merchant wouldn’t be able to follow the Alpha.

Lou narrowed his eyes at Ethan. "Do I know you?"

Ethan was speechless, this merchant was really shameless. There was no way he didn’t know him, unless he lost all of his memories, which was very unlikely.

"It’s so rare for someone to forget about me, unless there is something not working here." Ethan pointed to his head. "Or, you only want to hear the stories of how awesome I am?"

Lou grimaced. "No, thanks. The only awesome person that I know is myself."

Jace almost choked on his drink when he heard that. He thought Ethan and Redmond were already very shameless, but this merchant took the bar to a whole new level.

Unfortunately, by the time Lou managed to get away from Ethan, Cane and Iris were long gone and he was not a shifter, who could sniff where they had gone while none of them would tell him anything.

"Damn it!" Lou grumbled.

He kicked the pebbles in the yard, but got startled when someone approached him, as a figure emerged from the dark. "Ms. Dmitri, what are you doing there?!" Lou patted his chest, surprised by her sudden appearance.

"Sir, long time no see," Nala said in a small and gentle voice. She approached the merchant in such a way that made him narrow his eyes. This woman gave off a strange vibe. "I am glad to be able to see you here."

"Well... yeah, me too." Lou was not sure what to say, thus he kept it polite when he talked to Nala. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Actually, yes... I want to ask a favor from you." Nala fiddled with her fingers. She tried to articulate what she wanted to seek from him while appearing like a vulnerable woman that needed protection.

If it was someone else, they would have this urge to comfort her, since she looked like a little, weak wolf until one couldn’t help but want to act as her shield.

However, Lou had seen this trick countless times and had been fed up.

"Sir..." Nala started. They didn’t meet often when they were in the capital city, thus starting this conversation was a little bit awkward.

"You can just call me Lou. Tell me what you want. I don’t really like to beat around the bush. I am pretty busy now." Lou was a little bit annoyed because he lost his chance to see Iris, thus he didn’t want to have this meaningless conversation.
