The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 620

Chapter 620: THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM (3)

"Are you sure, you are okay?" Cane narrowed his eyes, his gaze was intense on his mate, because she had been acting off recently. Her emotion was erratic and it happened often.

"I am fine," Iris grinned, she tiptoed and pulled his clothes to bend his body, so she could kiss his cheek. She was being affectionate more in public, something that used to make her face turned very red.

Cane stared at her, deep in thought, as he wrapped his arm around her waist, barely grazed her belly.

"Let’s go back to the pack house. Don’t roam around."

"But, I am not alone," Iris protested.

"Still."

Meanwhile, Celia was chatting with Eron and Dyne, she told him that she bought something sweet for Joel. The girl had grown fond of the young warrior, seeing him as her big brother, as she missed him often.

On the other hand, Zale was quiet, his eyes would occasionally fix on the luna, he walked right behind her, looking around, as if he was on alert. He was thinking what the alpha had offered to him, but how could he know when he had free time? He used to be away and was very busy all the time.

When they arrived at the pack house, Zephyr came and reprimanded Zale because he skipped his training.

"You told me that you are only taking a break for a while, but you left for an entire day."

Zale left to give Iris flower, but he ended up following her all day in the town. He got a little bit trouble for that and Zephyr gave him a punishment to discipline him.

Two days later, Cane had a meeting with Redmond before he left to the Moon Dew pack, but when Iris found out about it, she pleaded to come with him too, because it had been a while since she had not yet met with that grumpy warrior.

"Stay here and rest." Cane caressed her cheek, but Iris had none of it.

"What do you mean rest? I just woke up."

Cane frowned and the seven warriors watched how their alpha caved in in the end, which didn’t surprise them anymore. Their alpha could be very strict and cold to anyone, but whenever the luna was in the picture, he softened up. More so, they also noticed how Iris had been very clingy lately.

"You gain weight."

That was the first thing that Redmond told Iris the moment he saw her and this made her wanted to squeeze the living out of him for his insensitive comment. He and Lou really needed to wash their mouth with soap some time.

But then, Redmond added. "I didn’t mean it in a bad way, I mean you used to be very sick and skinny. It’s good that you put on more weight."

"Nice to meet you too, Redmond," Iris hissed, she regretted to take the pain to come and see him here. She should have listened to Cane when he told her to stay at the pack house. "And congratulation to be a father."

Iris meant her last words as a sarcastic remark, because Redmond used to complain how much he hated that. Thankfully, at that time, she could simply turn her head away.

However, Redmond was grinning when he heard that.

"My baby is awesome!" he said with a big smile plastered on his lips, his face lit up when he mentioned his son, which made Iris smiled as well to see how happy he was, though he didn’t want to admit it.

Currently, they were in the entrance gate, where they would see Redmond off, the warrior would go to the Moon Dew pack related the matter with Sofia’s baby. This was part of the plan, though it didn’t go as smooth as Cane expected, because what Cyan did and the death of the king had changed his whole plan.

"Are you going to leave for Moon Dew pack alone?" Iris didn’t see anyone would come with Redmond. "Isn’t that dangerous?" She frowned.

"It will be fine," Cane said, he caressed her back gently.

Iris couldn’t see how it would be fine when he sent Redmond away all by himself to the enemy’s den. She was worried and it was justified. How could he send him away without any protection?

"Cane..." Iris wanted to protest. She had never heard this plan before, but then, if Cane had to elaborate all of his plan and the way he was thinking, it would take seven days and nights to do so and probably most of the ideas, Iris preferred not to know at all.

"I am thankful that you are worried about me, but there is no need for that," Redmond said when Iris wanted to argue with Cane’s decision. She gave him a look. "I am not going to die, okay? Don’t jinx me."

"I thought you don’t want to receive any order from him," Iris retorted.

"What’s the point? You always agreed with him anyway or will end up agreed with him." Redmond shrugged his shoulder and he couldn’t say it any better, since Iris admitted that she had never really given any order to him.
