"What? Did you abduct him?" Vicky asked, pretending to be surprised.
"Do you think it is my own child?" Rob shouted, glaring at Vicky.
Hearing Rob's words, Vicky smiled and said, "I have to say you care about him very much. After all, a kid shouldn't be blamed for his parents' fault. Don't you agree with me?"
Rob noticed that Vicky behaved a little weird. She had always been extremely self-centered. But now, when she was about to be killed, she was showing so much concern about a kid.
It was quite strange for someone like Vicky.
Rob fixed his eyes on Vicky, trying to scrutinize her face to spot something suspicious. However, Vicky had already noticed Rob's stare and guarded herself by pretending as if nothing had happened.
When Rob could not be certain about anything by reading Vicky's face, he decided to let it be. In any case, Vicky was just counting her breaths. Once Alva came back with the medicine, this damnable woman would be breathing her last in no time.
At the thought of this, Rob looked at the closed door behind him.
Rob was getting increasingly anxious because of Alva's delay in coming back with the medicine. 'Where has Alva gone? It has been a long time, and he should have been back now. But why hasn't he come back yet?' Rob wondered.
Vicky had started to become uneasy by then. She knew that Rob had started suspecting her. She had suddenly become too actively caring, which raked Rob's suspicion towards her.
'Why haven't Sheryl's men reached here yet?' Vicky thought in her mind.
Every passing moment felt very heavy on Vicky. On top of that, Clark lying lifelessly made her all the more anxious. She could do nothing apart from praying that the rescuers reach them as soon as possible.
Although Clark's fever had come down, children's physical conditions were prone to have a relapse. What if his fever relapsed again?
There was an awkward silence in the room, with each of the men being preoccupied with their respective thoughts.
Just then, the faint sounds of someone's footsteps could be heard from the door.
Vicky was the first one to hear the noise. She looked around as soon as the noise reached her ears. Immediately, she moved to stand in front of Clark to cover him.
Vicky was aware that if Rob noticed an alarming sign, his first instinct would be to cause harm to Clark.
Rob's turned his head as soon as he heard the noise outside the door, so he didn't notice what Vicky was doing. Abraham followed the queue from Rob, and both of them walked towards the door.
Just as they were about to reach the door, they heard Alva's voice.
"Boss, I am dying," Alva said in a choked voice.
Rob narrowed his eyes and listened carefully. He concentrated on the sound to get a clue if there was anyone else present apart from Alva on the other side of the door. But he could not make it out properly.
Rob hinted at Abraham, signaling for him to go out first.
Abraham nodded and unfastened the lock of the door quietly.
Abraham stepped out of the room, keeping a close eye on either side. However, no sooner did he leave the room than he disappeared. There was an uncanny silence set outside the room that made Rob alert about the impending trouble.
Noting that something was wrong, Rob was about to turn around and run to Clark, who was lying on the bed. But before he could do that, he heard Vicky shout for help behind him.
Right at that moment, the old wooden door was flung open, and two men dressed in black jumped into the room like ghosts.
Noticing it, Rob hurriedly went to grab hold of Clark. However, before his fingers could even touch Clark's clothes, a flying knife launched at him.
