The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

She appeared to be quite rude, but Aubree seemed to be very tolerant of her, nodding and smiling as she said, “Go ahead, tell him sooner. The young man of the Whitney family is so outstanding, you need to hurry up, or someone else will snatch them away!”

Marie pouted and said, “No way! No one can take it away!”

She said goodbye to Aubree, ran out the door, sent a message to Clayton asking where they were, and then took a taxi straight to the downtown pub.

She didn’t ask Dennis because she was afraid that if she asked, she wouldn’t have the courage to go over there.

Marie sat in the car, feeling a bit anxious, urging the driver to go faster, even

faster.

In fact, she hadn’t really thought about what to say to Dennis; she just felt that she needed to tell him something, or at least see him and give him a hug.

Upon arriving at the pub, Marie headed straight upstairs to where Dennis and

Clayton were in the private room.

Marie didn’t even knock, she just pushed the door open directly. As soon as she opened the door, she was stunned.

She thought Dennis and Clayton were there for a gathering, but she didn’t expect there to be another man in the private room.

The man was a typical Frenchman, sitting to one side, smoking a cigar, with a beautiful blonde woman on his lap, lighting his cigar for him.

Clayton and Dennis were sitting next to Caucasian women who were dressed in revealing, sexy outfits and wearing heavy makeup. Clayton had a cigarette in his mouth, while Dennis was holding a drink. One woman approached them and said in a sweet voice, “Mr. Whitney, have a drink with me!”

Get Boros

The woman was about to lean on Dennis when his face turned cold. Before he

could say anything, Marie rushed over, pulled the woman away, and grabbed Dennis’s wine glass. She clinked glasses with the woman and said, “Want to drink? I’ll drink with you!”

The woman was taken aback. She had finally managed to see Dennis, and if she. could hook up with him, she could follow him back to America, at least not having to stay here any longer. But Marie had messed things up.

Dennis was taken aback as well. He glanced at Marie, then turned his head and coldly stared at Clayton. No one but Clayton knew he was here.

“Who are you? What are you doing here causing trouble? I’m drinking with Mr. Whitney, is it any of your business?” The woman was very angry.

“You got so close to my man, of course I had to step in!”

Marie was holding a wine bottle, swaying unsteadily, with quite a fighting spirit.

The woman was bold, seeing Dennis sitting still, she splashed a glass of wine on Marie’s face and said, “Miss, are you crazy for men? How could Mr. Whitney possibly be your man? Who do you think you are?”

Marie, surprisingly not angry, wiped her face, shook off the alcohol stains, and said, “Me? I’m his girlfriend.”

Before the woman could laugh, Marie turned to Dennis and asked, “Is that true?”

Dennis raised the corner of his mouth and said, “Yes.”

“Mr. Whitney…” the woman was about to speak.

Dennis pulled Marie’s hand, sat on the couch, and said, “Clayton, take care of

it.”

Clayton gave a signal to someone nearby, and immediately someone dragged

the woman away.

Dennis picked up a napkin and wiped the wine stains from her face, asking,

“You’re quite bold, aren’t you? You dare to say anything.”

At this moment, Marie shrank her neck and muttered quietly, “Didn’t you

always say he’s my boyfriend? I just want to make it official…”

Dennis chuckled softly, looking deeply and attentively into Marie’s eyes, he said, “Alright, thank you Ms. Spence for the title you’ve given me, as for the

rest, we’ll discuss it when we get back.”

Marie was taken aback and asked, “What do you mean, talk about it later?”

Dennis shook his head and didn’t say anything.

Clayton sat nearby and said, “Ms. Spence, it’s been a long time since we last

met.”

Marie tilted her head and greeted Clayton, saying, “Mr. Philemon, long time

no see.’

”

Clayton nodded, looked at the Frenchman, and said in French, “Mr. LeBlanc,

since Mr. Whitney’s family has arrived, let’s talk another day.”

Aleron LeBlanc, the Frenchman, chuckled and said something to the blonde beauty sitting on his lap. Then, turning his head with a smile, he said, “Since we’re here, let’s have a drink together! It doesn’t matter when discussing business!”

Clayton’s face changed as he looked at Dennis. Dennis gave a slight nod and tightened his grip on Marie’s hand. Marie was taken aback and instinctively felt that something was not simple.

Dennis took a sip of wine, turned to fix Marie’s stray hairs, and whispered, “Follow me, don’t wander off.”

Marie held Dennis tightly, her smile unchanged, sweet and innocent.

Get Bo

After the blonde woman returned, she sat next to Aleron, laughing and drinking. She even smiled at Marie, but Marie couldn’t smile back. The way the woman sat and the bulge beneath her clothes were all too familiar to Marie – it was a gun.

Aleron said, “Mr. Philemon, our price is right here, five cases of firearms in exchange for four pounds of goods.”

Clayton shook his head, “Three cases.”

Aleron laughed sinisterly, “Mr. Philemon, you know the rules in our circle. By lowering the price like this, you might be breaking the rules. Or is it that you don’t want the goods at all? You’re not a police officer, are you?”

Clayton smiled faintly and said, “How could it be? As a businessman, business is business.”

“Since we couldn’t reach an agreement, let’s just forget it. We won’t bother Mr. LeBlanc anymore,” Dennis said.
