Chapter 151
Aubree smiled knowingly and said, “Please let him in and have him try my rose latte.”
The housekeeper stepped out for a moment, and Dennis entered, nodding slightly towards Aubree, “Good day, Mdm. Berry.”
Aubree laughed, looked at Dennis, and said, “Sit down and have a cup of coffee.”
Dennis didn’t refuse and sat down to drink his coffee. Aubree laughed and said, “Young man, you’ve been following Ms. Spence around, how could she say you’re not her boyfriend?”
Marie’s face turned red as she looked at Dennis. Dennis seemed completely unconcerned about the situation, glanced at Marie, and casually said, “She’s shy, I’m used to it.”
Marie remained silent.
Aubree laughed and asked, “How was the rose latte?”
Dennis smiled slightly, “I’m not used to drinking rose latte, Mdm. Berry, please forgive me.”
Aubree wasn’t angry either, and said with a smile, “You young people are quite straightforward. Alright, you came here to discuss copyrights, so bring out whatever you have.”
Marie immediately pulled up Sasha’s information for Aubree to see and played some clips of Sasha acting. She said, “Mdm. Berry, although Sasha is young, she is a very hardworking actress. She will definitely be able to handle this role!”
Ms. Spence, please come with me,” Aubree said as she stood up and walked towards the garden.
Marie glanced at Dennis, Dennis nodded, and Marie quickly caught up, following Aubree to the garden.
Aubree stood among the flowers and said, “My father wrote many books in his lifetime, and some were made into movies, but they were not very successful. Nowadays, young people like to watch romantic stories and heroic tales, not the kind of social issues my father wrote about. I’m not withholding the copyrights to make things difficult for you; I’m actually doing you a favor. If
this movie is made, no one will watch it.”
Marie was a bit anxious, “No, there are many people paying attention to depression now. I guarantee Sasha will perform well, and I will also do my best
to achieve the best results.”
Aubree laughed and looked at Marie, asking, “Girl, do you know what depression is?”
Marie hesitated for a moment, then smiled and said, “Mdm. Berry, I don’t
know, but my mother passed away with resentment due to depression.”
Aubree was taken aback, “Did your mother… pass away?”
Marie nodded and gave a bitter smile, “Yes, she passed away when I was very young.”
Aubree sighed, looked at Marie, and said, “Fine, the copyrights are yours, girl, but don’t blame me for not warning you, this film is hard to make money from.”
Marie smiled and said, “Thank you, Mdm. Berry.”
Aubree took Marie for a walk in the garden and said, “Girl, I really like you. Come visit me whenever you have time.”
Marie was taken aback, as she had only met Aubree twice, and Aubree had already said they got along well, which surprised her.
Aubree looked at Marie and laughed, “Don’t be afraid, I can’t sell you, can
I?”

Marie also laughed, “Alright, I’ll come to bother you when I have time.”
She inexplicably believed that Aubree had no ill intentions towards her, and
unwittingly agreed.
Dennis walked over and said to Marie, “Marie, Clayton is here, I’m going out
for a bit.”
Marie nodded, “You go ahead, I’ll chat with Mdm. Berry.”
Marie didn’t want to go, as she and Clayton had always been disagreeable with
each other. She went anyway, and ended up arguing with Clayton, which put
Dennis in an awkward position in the middle.
Dennis didn’t force her either, said goodbye to Aubree, and left.
Aubree looked at Dennis’s retreating figure and said, “Girl, even though I’ve
never been married in my life, I can clearly see the way he looks at you. Isn’t
he your boyfriend?”
Marie was taken aback for a moment, then laughed, “What kind of look were
you giving me when you looked at him?”
“Dependence, trust, and full of joy,” Aubree said.
Marie looked outside at Dennis’s departing car and murmured, “Yeah,
everyone can see it, he can see it too, right?”
Aubree pulled Marie’s hand and patted it, saying, “Girl, seeing it is one thing, but saying it, that’s another thing.”
Marie sat in the wicker chair, thought for a moment, and asked, “Do I really have to say it? Since I already know in my heart, do I still need to say it out loud?”
Aubree picked up the rose latte from the table and took a sip, her smile gentle and composed, “Ms. Spence, would you mind if I call you Marie?”
“Not at all, Mdm. Berry, please go ahead,” Marie said immediately.
“Alright, Marie, when I was young, I did love someone, very much, very much indeed,” Aubree said, looking at the distant sky.
“What happened next?” Marie asked.
Aubree laughed and said, “Later on, my dad didn’t agree. Our whole family
was in France, and he was in America. I thought, even if I didn’t say it, he would know that I would go back after I graduated. But when I went back, he
already had a girlfriend.”
“Didn’t you explain?” Marie was worried for her.

Aubree shook her head and said, “In our time, love was a lifelong thing. I liked
him, but he didn’t like me anymore, so any explanation was unnecessary. I just took a distant look at him and came back. So, Marie, some things can’t be
resolved just by understanding each other’s feelings. Men can be quite narrow-minded too; if you don’t say anything, how can they be sure?”
Marie, spinning the coffee mug on the tray, said, “I don’t dare.”
Aubree was drinking coffee, quietly waiting for Marie to speak. Having lived half her life and met so many people, she could tell that Marie had a lot on her
mind.
Marie hesitated for a moment, then said, “Mdm. Berry, I once vaguely loved someone who abandoned me. I was very scared and didn’t want to experience that kind of embarrassment again.”
Aubree put down her coffee mug, smiled at Marie, and said, “Marie, you know, generalizing is just a way for mediocre people to trouble themselves.”
