The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 201

Chapter 201

Dennis closed his eyes when he heard someone enter the room. “Driscoll, I won’t tell

you where Clayton is.”

Driscoll gave a sinister smile. “I am in a good mood, so I won’t interrogate you today. I

want to introduce a big shot to you. This is Ms. Rose. Have you heard of her?”

Dennis stiffened up as he sat up with much difficulty. It was apparent that he was

seriously injured. It took him a lot of effort to sit up.

Dennis looked behind Driscoll. When he saw the girl with a mask, he immediately froze.

He recognized Marie immediately. The young lady was wearing black leggings, accentuating her slender figure. She looked older than her age in the red leather jacket. The black mask made her look even more sexy and attractive.

Dennis knew she was Marie.

“She’s Rose?” Dennis asked.

‘Driscoll smiled. “Yes, she is. The top international assassin has joined my team. One day, I will hunt Clayton down. I will make him pay with his life. Ms. Rose, I heard you’ve never failed in your assassination attempts. I’m sure you’re confident of killing

Clayton.”

Marie’s gaze remained fixed. “Of course. This is a piece of cake to me.”

Dennis looked at her with a smirk on his face. He had tried so hard to protect this girl, yet she turned out to be far more powerful and cold-blooded than he could ever imagine. He was now being held captive while she had become the executioner wielding

the knife.

Dennis stood up suddenly and tried to catch hold of Marie. He wanted to know why she was behaving this way. He refused to believe that she was Rose. Nor did he want to believe that she was a spy.

Driscoll pushed Dennis away, kicking him in the chest. “Stay right here. I’ll kill all of you once I find Clayton.”

Driscoll might have kicked Dennis’ wound, causing the latter to collapse in the corner against the wall. Dennis remained in that spot for a long time without getting back up.

Marie clenched her fists so hard that her palms were on the verge of bleeding, her lips curling into a smile. “He’s so frail and weak. What’s the point of having so many men. watch over him?”

Dennis leaned against the wall and watched the young lady as she walked out of the room. Soon, he felt more convinced that perhaps, this person was the real Marie.

Marie was living a prosperous life in New York. There was no reason for her to come to such a godforsaken place like Brussels.

Dennis wondered how did Marie manage to get to Brussels. Why was a cold-blooded drug dealer like Driscoll treating her with such respect?

Driscoll followed after Marie, looking smug. “Ms. Rose, you may not be aware that Mr. Whitney is a very skilled fighter. He’s only weak now because he’s injured. We shouldn’t underestimate him.”

Marie narrowed her eyes. “Since he’s such a good fighter, how did he get injured?”

Driscoll looked jubilant. “I sent someone to ram his car before when I apprehended him. They had beaten him up badly earlier. I’ve also had him whipped over the last few days. while interrogating him. He’s also afraid that I might lace his food with drugs, so he refuses to eat the meals we provide. He’s probably too weak to stand up now.”

Marie’s mouth twitched as she forced a smile. “Really? He’s still a rather tough guy. Why don’t you hand him over to me? I’ll interrogate him on your behalf.”

Driscoll was taken aback. “Ms. Rose, that will be too much trouble for you.”

Marie said coldly, “It’s a small matter. Forget it if you’re afraid that I’ll take prisoner away.”

your

“No, no! Of course not! How can Ms. Rose take away a prisoner? He’s locked up here all this while. You can interrogate him at any time.” Driscoll immediately smiled and apologized to Marie.

Marie eventually loosened up and said, “Let’s talk about it later. I’ll go back first.”

In the meantime, Emory and Kate had just arrived at the agreed meeting place. As soon as they arrived, they saw Luca alone. Kate asked, “Luca, where’s Marie?”

Luca lowered his head. “She’s gone to the stronghold first.”

Emory was stunned for a moment. He rushed over and grabbed Luca. “What are you talking about? How can you let her go to the stronghold alone? Why didn’t you stop her? How can you allow her to be so willful? Don’t you know how to carry out a task?”

Luca covered his head in fear. “I know, but I can’t stop her. We can’t think of a better

solution.”

Kate walked over and pulled Emory away from Luca. “All right, all right. Since things

have already happened, we can only sit down and understand the situation better. We

have to get Marie out as soon as possible. Luca, how did she get in?”

Luca sat down with them and explained, “She disguised herself as Rose and pretended

that she wanted to discuss some business with them.”

Kate smiled. “She’s quite smart. It’s okay as long as she doesn’t blow her cover.”

Luca took out all the guns and explained Marie’s plan to them. They started to discuss. how to rescue her when the door was suddenly kicked open.

The three of them quickly stood up, loaded their guns, and pointed to the door. Clayton walked in with his men and asked, “Where’s Rose?”

Luca’s fury sprang to life as he cursed, “Can you stop causing trouble? She’s gone to the stronghold alone to save Mr. Whitney. Instead of going to her rescue, you’ve come here. to confront us. If I were Dennis, I’d be so exasperated with you.”

Clayton said coldly, “Rose went missing immediately after Dennis disappeared. Who would believe that she has nothing to do with this matter?”

Luca rushed over to Clayton, infuriated. “I’ll kill you today!”

Clayton’s men immediately aimed their guns at Luca. Emory grabbed hold of Luca and reminded him, “Don’t be rash. The most important thing now is to save Marie.”

Kate raised her hand, indicating she would not attack Clayton and his men. She placed down her gun and said, “Mr. Philemon, your goal is to save Dennis. We want to get Marie out too. Since they’re locked in the same place, why don’t we work together to save them?”

Clayton frowned. “Work together? Why should I work with assassins like you?”

Kate smiled. “We’re only pooling our resources together. Once we rescue them, we will

have nothing to do with each other. The three of us are standing right in front of you. You can shoot us immediately if you think we are up to no good. Dennis will be in danger if we continue to do nothing.”

After some deliberation, Clayton gestured for his subordinates to step back. “Okay, let’s work together for this purpose. We’ll settle our score after we save them.’

Clayton kept his word and finally agreed to cooperate with them. He took out the photos

and drawings and briefed the group. “It is very likely that Driscoll caught Dennis because of Landon’s murder at Witton Manor. This is the blueprint of their stronghold. I used a drone to capture the layout.”

Kate pointed out, “If Driscoll wants to take revenge for Landon, he would have killed Dennis on the spot. Why should he spend so much effort to bring Dennis to Paris from

Brussels?”

Emory added, “I don’t think he’s out to get even with Dennis for Landon’s death. The person Driscoll wants is Mr. Philemon. Dennis is just a scapegoat. Am I right?”

Luca pursed his lips and said, “You are the one who caused all the trouble. You made Mr.

Whitney take the blame for you. Now Marie is also implicated. You even caught Marie.
