Chapter 208
Dennis lifted the blanket, got out of bed, and was about to leave when Clayton stopped him. Dennis smiled and said, “Clayton, I’m injured all over, and I can’t beat you. You can forcibly handcuff me here too, so I won’t
go to her.”
“Dennis! She is…” Clayton was about to call her “Rose”.
Dennis interrupted him, “She’s my fiancée. Maybe she has other identities, Rose, Emily, and Marry, which are
not important. To me, she’s just Marie.”
Clayton opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Dennis said, “Clayton, if you can’t trust her, just trust
Dennis was weak all over, but he seemed to have great strength when he waved away Clayton’s hands.
Clayton could only stand in a daze, watching Dennis’ back as he walked away. Gavin and Cullen helped him
walk toward the small dark room. They went together and picked up Marie..
Clayton thought everyone except him, including Cullen, Gavin, and Andres, firmly believed in Marie. Was his
judgment wrong?
Dennis walked to the door of the small dark room. He paused and then raised his hand to open the door.
The door opened, but Dennis and the others were stunned.
The small dark room was empty, and the handcuffs in the corner were pried open. The room was
unobstructed, and there was no trace of Marie.
Dennis had seen clearly that she was nestled in the corner of this room!
Then there was only one possibility. Someone had intruded on the surveillance camera here. What Dennis
saw was already unknown when the surveillance footage was taken.
As for Marie, she might have left long ago.
“Mr. Whitney…” Cullen looked worriedly at Dennis’ face. He was seriously injured and should have been
resting in bed. He insisted on running over to find Marie, but she was gone.
Dennis clenched his fist and asked, “Who took her away?”
Gavin was stunned and said, “Dennis, are you suspecting Clayton?”
Dennis walked back with a livid face and bumped into Clayton. He shook off both Cullen and Gavin, who were holding him, and rushed over to punch Clayton and shouted, “Where did you take her!”
His punch only had little impact. Clayton didn’t shake and said, “Dennis, someone else has rescued her. Don’t you believe it? The person behind her is far stronger than we imagine.”
Dennis grabbed Clayton’s collar and shouted, “You’d better be glad she’s safe. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”
Before Clayton could speak, Dennis coughed violently. He moved too much and pulled the wound. He bent

down and coughed twice, shouting. “Cullen!”
Cullen immediately came over to support Dennis and said, “Mr. Whitney.”
Dennis ordered, “Send someone to look for her immediately!”
Cullen nodded and handed Dennis over to Gavin. He walked out while making a phone call, sending more
people to look for Marie.
At that moment, Marie nestled in the car’s back seat without saying a word.
Half an hour ago.
Kate pried open Marie’s handcuffs and said, “It’s time to go.”
Hesitantly, Marie stood up and asked, “Where is he?”
Kate carefully examined the situation outside. She turned to her and said, “Dennis has already woken up. He,
hasn’t said a word about you all day.”
Marie lowered her head, sniffled, and said, “Really? I’m glad he’s awake…”
Kate patted her shoulder and said, “Marie, you’re a suspect. Clayton can’t wait to keep you away from Dennis. I guess you’ve been shooting and fighting this time, and Dennis won’t trust you as much as before.”
Marie looked at Kate and said, “But… he loves me…”
Kate said, “Marie, love can’t control a person’s thoughts and actions, not to mention someone as outstanding as Dennis. If he wants to see you, he’ll see you as soon as he wakes up.”
The light in Marie’s eyes dimmed. She lowered her head and muttered, “I think… I’m falling in love with him…”
Kate didn’t hear what she said. She pulled Marie and said, “It’s time to go. Emory and the others are waiting
outside.”
Marie didn’t resist when Kate pulled her out of the room and sneaked out. Emory and Luca had knocked the people at the door down. Seeing that they didn’t make things difficult for Marie, Emory and the others didn’t
kill them.
After taking Marie to the car, they had to leave immediately and find a remote place to hide before sending
her away.
Since Marie got into the car, she had been sitting in the back seat without saying a word. She was still wearing the tattered vest covered in blood and mud, and her hair was also messy. She didn’t seem to care much and kept looking out the window in silence.
Marie knew this day would come sooner or later but didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
This was the best outcome between her and Dennis. She had rescued Dennis successfully. She didn’t see
him wake up with her own eyes, but it didn’t matter.
As for the lies and concealments in the past, Dennis had discovered and even figured it out and made him feel she had sneaked into the Spence family. This was a good thing. At least she was still an ordinary person
to Dennis.
It didn’t matter if Dennis hated her for the rest of her life. At least she once stayed in his heart.
Marie sniffled but couldn’t cry. She had Emory and her friends and still had a lot to do.
Luca turned around and said sornething to Kate, and then he reached out his hand to Marie.
Marie was forced to look at Luca’s hand and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Luca opened his palm in front of her. The beautiful, sparkling diamond ring was lying in Luca’s palm. Marie
had forgotten that she asked Luca to keep it before she went in..
Luca shook his hand and said, “Here, your ring.”
Marie tried hard not to cry, but now her tears fell all at once. She took the ring, put it on her finger, and
