Harmony POV.
No sooner had my water’s broke, I was rushed to the hospital. I feel guilty that I sort of ruined our wedding, but Faith wanted out and she doesn’t seem to be in any rush about the eviction process.
Six hours later and I’m still pregnant, sweating and grunting like a pig with each contraction. I have lost count of how many times I have changed position, walked around the room, counted my steps. Bounced on the yoga ball and breathed in copious amounts of gas and air, having the giggles and sounding like Barry White when I talked.
Mav, as usual, is the epitome of calm. He has held me as I groaned, leaning on him; he has wiped my sweat and tears and been really supportive. I know the entire frigging club is in the waiting room. Momma is with Melody, keeping her busy. I only wanted Mav with me, much to my momma’s disappointment, but she respected it and has been checking in often.
Melody has been in to see me, but once the contractions became harsher, like my insides were being pulled through the eye of a red-hot needle, momma took her out of the room.
“AHHHHHH, I can’t … Mav, make it stop!” I cry out as I grit my teeth and stop breathing. The midwife is doing her job and every now and then she makes goo-goo eyes at my husband. I snarl at her and she stops. Yeah, you better or else.
Wow husband, Mav is my husband. But Mav is not taking any notice of her, he is solely focused on me.
“Ok Harmony, that was a big one. I need to check on you again,” she says and I grunt, nodding my head, panting like I have run a marathon. Leaning back on the pillow as I look at the ceiling.
“You are doing beautifully. Just think, she will be here soon. Our Faith, I hope she is just like you, baby. Besides, there will be no excuse to miss our wedding anniversary when Faith will have the same birthday.” Mav says to me and I chuckle, then groan out as my back arches off the bed.
“Ok Harmony, you are fully dilated. On the next contraction, I want you to push.” The midwife says when the door opens and in walks two more midwives. I would be mortified at this, but right now I don’t care.
It would seem half the damn midwifery staff have seen up my coochie like it’s something marvellous. It is true when you are giving birth, all dignity goes out the damn window. I simply don’t care.
“Mav, it hurts. Make it stop, please.” I say when I scream and my body knows what to do. I bear down, gritting my teeth as I grip the bed rail, trying to sit myself up.
When Mav moves me as I tuck my chin and scream out again.
“Ok, Harmony, breathe, you’re doing well. A few more big pushes and your baby will be out.” One of the midwives says, but I drown her out snarling like a rabies infected beast.
“You can do this baby, this is it, the home stretch.” I snap my head to him after he said stretch. Oh, if only he knew what it felt like to stretch this wide. Seriously fucker, you try giving birth.
“Wrong choice of words, Mav.” I snap and he chuckles and I want to punch him in his perfect face for doing this to me.
“Ok, big push!” If she tells me to push one more time, I’m going to …
“AHHHHH,” I breathe, bringing the gas and air to my mouth and sucking on it. I feel dizzy, but it dulls the pain slightly.
“That’s it Harmony, I can see the head.” She says, full of excitement. Mav is kissing my sweating head and whispering words of encouragement, calling me brave, beautiful, and strong. I take those words and push again. I grunt and curse as I feel the burn.
“Ok, baby’s head is out. Breathe out for me in long, slow, controlled breaths. That’s it, you are doing really well. On the next contraction, one last push.” I nod my head as I grip Mav’s hand and I look at him and he is smiling softly at me and he looks so composed.
“You ready to meet our little girl?” He asks me and I nod my head as the pain rips through me again.
“Push, baby, bring her into this world. Come on, that’s it, that’s it.” He says as I scream when I hear it.
“WAHHH, WAHHH, WAHHH.” I look up and see the midwife holding our daughter in the air. She is waving her fist and holding her legs, red in the face, screaming to the world that she has arrived.
