He wasn't just talking the talk.
He had really thought it through, weighed his options carefully.
With Esther, life felt almost the same as being single - work, meetings, dealing with all sorts of trouble and paperwork.
On the rare occasion he had some free time, he'd rather review some code again than text Esther.
It was only when she reached out that he'd remember, oh right, he had a girlfriend.
But with Felicity, everything was different!
He'd even sneak peeks at his phone during meetings, wondering if she had reached out, if there was a message from her he missed.
She was the only one who could tug at his thoughts like that.
So marrying Felicity wasn't a hasty decision.
Dorothy, who had seen it all, guessed the situation with a glance.
She smiled, went over, and took Felicity's hand, gently patting it, "Felicity, could you spare a few words with Ms. Sanchez?"
"I..."
"Don't worry! I'm as close to your mom as sisters. Even if my son really wants to marry you, if you're not willing, I won't push it."
Miles frowned slightly, "Mom!"
"Go back to your room! Come, Felicity, let's talk. If after our talk, you still don't want to get married, don't want to marry Langston, we'll prioritize your feelings."
Felicity, moved, hugged Dorothy tightly and nestled against her, "You're the best!"
...
In the study of Bay Residence, the table was not only adorned with freshly washed fruits but also some toffee candies Aurora had bought before.
Felicity shook her head, "He definitely likes me, always looking out for me, taking care of me, how could he not like me? But Ms. Sanchez, liking isn't the same as love. I want us to marry because he loves me and I love him, to build a family on that foundation."
She had been pampered growing up, not quite to the extent of the Lopez family, but still very much cherished.
So Felicity couldn't settle.
Especially not in matters of the heart.
Just as Dorothy was about to speak, Miles, who had been standing outside, knocked on the study door.
"Mom, open up, let me in to talk to her."
Clearly, he had been eavesdropping.
"Do you want to?" Dorothy asked Felicity, looking for her approval.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she nodded, "Okay, let's handle this ourselves."

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
