Felicity was frozen, her brain needing almost a full minute to process his words. Just as she was about to yank her hand away, proclaiming it was too late, Miles didn’t just hold on—he pulled her closer, wrapping an arm around her waist and trapping her against his chest.
Their breaths mingled, so close she could count his heartbeats.
“What do you think you’re doing? I’ll scream for help!”
“Go ahead, scream. Jake’s just in the next room. He’ll hear you.”
That would certainly crush Jake’s hopes.
Felicity couldn’t believe these words were coming out of Miles’ mouth.
His gaze pierced into hers, “Felicity, I’m serious.”
“So am I! Let me go, then go iron your shirt, and leave as soon as it's dry!” Felicity averted her eyes, her brows knitting together in frustration, “Letting you in doesn’t mean I want to patch things up! We’re done, this is just—”
She couldn’t bear the thought of breaking up again.
Without giving her a chance to finish, Miles pulled her in for a deep, silencing kiss.
Felicity struggled at first, but her strength was no match for his, her wrists easily pinned by his hands.
But a simple kiss was not enough for him.
He wanted more.
Together, they fell onto the bed, with Miles’ kisses growing deeper, more fervent, as if trying to merge their beings into one.
Felicity felt like she was losing her mind!
“Why not? I will say break—”
“Because I love you.”
Felicity froze, her lips still shaped to utter “break up.”
It took her a moment to respond, “What did you say?”
“I said, I love you.” Miles gently wiped away the tears from her eyes, “The kind of love a man has for a woman, not just liking.”
Felicity remained silent, her tears flowing even more freely, becoming too numerous for Miles to catch.
“Stop crying. It’s all my fault. I should have told you sooner that I love you. Maybe I haven’t been clear enough, but from now on, I’ll tell you every day, okay?”
