"Really?" Craig barely glanced at Magnolia as he pulled Aurora by the wrist, clearly not interested in engaging further.
But Magnolia wasn't ready to give up. "Craig, my dad has only me for a daughter. Marry me, and the whole shipping hub could be yours! I'm the one who can truly stand by you. She might be rich and beautiful, but she's just playing with you for now. Think about it!"
"You—"
Aurora, having been the apple of her father Everett's eye, along with her brother's, was not used to being spoken to like this. Spoiled with every luxury imaginable, she had a fiery temper to match her privileged upbringing.
Dealing with a shipping hub was child's play to her, a word from her family and nobody would dare cross them.
But as she turned to give Magnolia a piece of her mind, Craig gently tugged on her arm, a silent plea to let it go.
It wasn't about being caught between Aurora and Magnolia for him. It was about whether he, Craig, could really match up to the heiress of the Lopez family or if he should wake up from this dream and settle for someone in his league.
Craig, proud and self-respecting, instinctively wanted to stop it.
But why did he soon let go, allowing Aurora to confront Magnolia? Because he knew too well, Aurora couldn't stand being belittled, and if she didn't stand up to Magnolia, it would only upset her more.
"Craig?"
Magnolia, mistaking their pause for contemplation, stepped forward, hoping her words had some effect. Suddenly, instead of facing Magnolia, Aurora returned to Craig's side, pulled his face down by his collar, and tiptoed to kiss him.
"..."
"Craig, tell her, no matter what, you're marrying me!"
She held on, wrapping her arms around Craig's neck, her beautiful face beaming like a child with a new toy.
He was initially stunned, then, with a deep breath, leaned in to return the kiss.
"Done causing a scene?"
"Yeah."
Suddenly, the door was pushed shut from the inside!
"Jeez... Why so stingy!"
"You wanna watch a guy shower?"
"It's not like it's some random guy. We're getting married, what's the big deal?"
She wasn't even blushing, but Craig seemed hesitant.
"Marriage, let's talk about it after meeting your parents."
"I already told you, they'll agree! You just don't believe me?"
Soon after, Craig emerged, clean and dressed, water still dripping from his short hair down his chiseled jawline, carrying the scent of the shower gel Aurora had picked out...
